Shocking Video Unveils Mets Fan’s Shocking Act Against Elderly Man at Packed Stadium—What Really Happened?
Ever wonder if the thrill of snagging that elusive home run baseball is worth turning into a full-contact sport? Well, a recent clip from a Mets game has the internet in an uproar after a fan was caught literally yanking a ball right out of an elderly man’s hands — and not with a polite “excuse me.” It’s like the Usain Bolt of souvenir stealing met the WWE, and the crowd’s mixed laughter and gasps say it all. Sure, grabbing a baseball feels like winning the lottery for sports fans, but does that justify a tug-of-war worthy of a reality show? The viral moment even got Reddit users weighing in with everything from calls for lifetime bans to snarky CEO jokes — because why not add a little boardroom humor to the ballpark drama? If you thought snapping up hats and opening bags at the US Open was wild, baseball just raised the bar on souvenir madness. Buckle up — this isn’t your grandma’s ball game souvenir story.
Footage of a Mets fan ‘ripping a baseball out of an elderly man’s hands’ has sparked fury.
The viral clip comes after spectators at the US open have been spotted doing similar, weird things to get their mitts on a memento from nabbing hats to seemingly opening bags.
But this incident at the baseball game seems a little more, well, intense and plenty of members of the internet have made their feelings clear towards the sports fan.
When the New York Mets took on the Miami Marlins at Citi Field last week, the two supporters were spotted in a scuffle in the stands as they wanted to claim the sacred baseball from a home run.
As any fan of the sport knows, it’s the ultimate souvenir to take home – if you claim it.

He sat back down behind the bloke and didn’t seem apologetic. (Reddit)
In the video, an older male is seen doing his best trying to hold on to the ball, but a younger guy can be seen seeming to rip it away.
From the footage circulating online, it doesn’t quite seem clear who actually had hands on the baseball first.
However, it’s the bloke’s action in so ferociously pulling it away from the man’s two hands that has caused absolute uproar.
Claiming the ball, he heads back to his seat behind his new rival, smirking and proudly holding the ball as some of the crowd laughs, and others watch on in disgrace.
The older guy even puts out his hand asking for it back but the ball winner certainly isn’t parting ways with his new souvenir, not even seeming to be apologetic over what went down between them.
Taking to Reddit to discuss the incident, one user simply wrote: “So many arseholes in the world.”
“He’s sooo proud of himself, what an asshole,” another echoed.
A third even called for ‘lifetime bans’ for this type of behaviour.
“What a child. Act like a grown up,” wrote a fourth.
As a fifth said: “Bearded guy chose Trial by Social Media.”
However, some did suggest that was the whole thing didn’t seem to be broadcast, ‘for all we know, the other guy was trying to steal it’.
While others simply referenced the likes of the ‘Coldplay Couple’ and said: “It’s a good year for crowd cameras.”
And another referenced that event and the CEO from the US Open viral moment this week as they said: “I bet he’s a CEO.”
“He’d make a good CEO,” others echoed with the joke.
