Elon Musk’s Tesla Diner Shocks Fans—But It’s One Unexpected Feature Everyone Can’t Stop Talking About!
So, Elon Musk just dropped a ‘Tesla Diner’ in Hollywood, and no, it’s not your typical greasy spoon–it’s like someone mashed up a retro American diner with a sci-fi movie set, threw in some electric car chargers, and bam! But here’s the kicker: the part everyone’s raving about isn’t the neon lights or the roller-skating waitstaff zooming by, nor the popcorn-serving robot in the corner—it’s the fact that Tesla actually covers the tips for their staff. Yep, you read that right—no awkward math at the end of your meal, no “how much should I leave?” panic. Makes you wonder if this tipping-free future is what eating out was always meant to look like. Elon Musk has opened up a ‘Tesla Diner’ in Hollywood, and people who’ve been are happy about at least one thing about the place.
This new establishment in California opened this week, and it’s like someone threw the concept of an old-time American diner into a blender along with sci-fi concept art of what future buildings would look like.
It’s got plenty of parking for electric cars which you can charge while there, you can order food, and they’ve got two big screens set up to play movies for diners to watch while they eat.
The sort of customer who would go to a Tesla Diner is likely to have some kind of overlap with the sort or person who reckons that pretty much anything Elon Musk does is a masterful gambit.
As such most of the reaction to the place has been positive, with people saying they really like one particular aspect of the diner that even those whose opinion of Elon Musk is lower than the wreck of the Titanic would approve of.
It’s the tips, or in this case the lack of tipping.
People have been sharing pictures of their receipts from the diner which says: “Gratuity: Tesla covers tipping for staff.”
This has turned out to be particularly popular among visitors to the Tesla Diner who’ve said it’s the ‘best part’ about the experience and expressed ‘how nice’ it is to get to the end of a meal and not have to work out how much extra to tip.
Meanwhile, diners have noticed that some of the staff who bring your food you you zoom around on roller skates. One hopes they don’t end up having any sort of collision with the customers.
On the other hand, some of the employees don’t even need to be paid at all because they’re robot,s as customers have been sharing videos of an automaton scooping popcorn.

Tipping is the bane of many food industry customers who don’t want to have to pay extra on top of their meal, with some people really not wanting to pay up more money for what in some parts of the world is more of an obligation than an option.
Tesla says they cover tipping for staff, though since this diner is in the state of California service workers are entitled to receive at least minimum wage regardless of the tips they make.
It isn’t the case in every part of the US, as other areas of the country allow service workers to be paid below the legal limit as long as they can top up their earnings based on tips.
