Jennifer Aniston's Shocking Exit: What Adam Sandler Bought Grown Ups Cast Sparks Unexpected Fallout

So, picture this: Jennifer Aniston—yes, that Jennifer—mid-interview with Adam Sandler, suddenly hits the eject button faster than you can say “Maserati” after learning about the lavish gifts he dropped on his Grown Ups co-stars. Now, here’s the kicker—while Jen was all set to chat about their Netflix flick Murder Mystery 2, she found herself stunned (and a tad dramatic, but hey, who wouldn’t be?) discovering Sandler’s generosity spree that didn’t quite include her. I mean, Lavish Maseratis for Rob Schneider and David Spade? Meanwhile, Jen’s just sitting there like, “Wait, hold up—what about me?” Their friendship is gold—sending flowers on tough days, sharing on-screen chemistry that’s the stuff of legends—but when it comes to gifts, Adam’s antics had Jen theatrically bolting from the room. So, what’s it really like when two comedic heavyweights mix friendship, film, and a little playful gift rivalry? Trust me, you don’t wanna miss this hilarious back-and-forth that went viral and left fans wondering if a Happy Gilmore 3 featuring Jen is just around the corner. Buckle up… it’s a wild ride. Jennifer Aniston pressed the eject button in the middle of an interview with Adam Sandler after discovering what he gifted his Grown Ups co-stars.

The Friends star, 56, decided to abandon ship when she found out how generous Sandler had been towards some of the cast members in the hit 2010 comedy.

The pair were sitting down for an interview to discuss the Netflix film Murder Mystery 2 back in 2023 when things supposedly ‘went sideways.’

It was the third movie that the dynamic duo had appeared in together, which came after they played on-screen lovers in the romcom Just Go With It and a sleuthing couple in the first Murder Mystery film.

Aniston and Sandler were already firm friends by this point – having created hilarious viral moments together, as well as revealing that kissing each other while acting felt ‘weird’ as they were so close in real life.

They are such good friends, in fact, that the comedy star even sweetly sends the actress flowers each year to let her know he’s thinking of her on a day which she finds particularly tough.

And like any close pals, the pair also enjoy winding each other up at any given opportunity.

During the 2023 interview, Aniston got the perfect opening to do exactly that – by feigning anger and storming out of the sit down after finding out what special treat Sandler got for his Grown Ups co-stars.

Take a look at this:

The actor starred in, co-wrote and produced the 2010 film and it’s 2013 sequel, which Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider and Salma Hayek all appeared in.

Due to the unbelievable success that the first flick had at the box office, Sandler splashed some cash on his cast mates and reportedly purchased Maseratis for several of the lads – although Hayek missed out.

Journalist Erin Jensen brought up his penchant for buying flashy presents during the interview and asked Sandler whether he had got Aniston a similar extravagant gift after they wrapped Murder Mystery 2.

Hilariously, the Big Daddy star tried to cover his back by interjecting and telling his fellow A-lister that there would be one waiting for her ‘when she gets home tonight.’

Aniston appeared stunned as she then retorted: “You bought your co-stars Maseratis? You bought Rob Schneider, David Spade…”

Again, Sandler tried to save face by butting in and insisting he had tried to do the same for Aniston… but each time, something had got in the way.

He jokingly claimed that he had purchased three Ferrari’s for her – one for each film they’d starred in together – but each time he tried to deliver it to her house, someone would shoo him away.

Despite his attempts at doing some damage control, Aniston had heard enough and comically hopped out of her chair, while leaving the set in a huge huff – as a joke, of course.

Sandler then leaned into the bit and desperately tried to convince her to return, shouting: “Oh no, Jennifer! Don’t you do this to me! You got three Ferrari’s!”

When The Morning Show star eventually returned to her seat, he tried to smooth things over once again by saying: “Hi Jen. The car is right out [front]…I bought you a white Mercedes. On Melrose. You’ll see it!”

The tongue-in-cheek argument between the pals subsequently went viral and in wake of the release of Happy Gilmore 2 on Friday (25 July), people have been left baffled as to why Aniston wasn’t among the celebrities who made a cameo in the comedy.

Due to their chemistry on-screen, people reckon that Aniston would have been a great addition to the line-up.

Discussing their previous collaborations in a Reddit thread, one person said of the pair: “Their vibe on screen is just unbeatable!”

Another wrote: “Adam and Jen have awesome chemistry too, you can tell they are friends.”

And a third added: “When he’s paired with Aniston, she always seems to really smooth out those bumps. It’s easier to forgive his slip ups when she is on screen to distract me. He should just make every movie with her lol.”

Here’s to hoping there’s a third Happy Gilmore for Aniston to star in then, eh gang? Get the Maserati on standby, Sandler.
