Well, meet Zac, whose route to reality-show infamy on Channel 4’s Virgin Island began with an impulsive TikTok application and a whole lot of awkward family conversations . What could possibly go wrong—other than, say, having your mum cringe at your TV antics, or pondering whether watching with friends is safer than subjecting grandma to episode five? In Zac’s world, the answer involves a cocktail of curiosity, controversy, and some cringe-worthy moments that probably make even the boldest of us want to hide behind the sofa . Never has “family viewing” taken on quite such a loaded meaning . Tempted to peek behind the curtain? LEARN MORE.

Virgin Island’s Zac has revealed how his family reacted to him telling them he was set to go on the unique reality show where he got naked.

For those living under a rock unaware of Virgin Island, the show featured a series of adult virgins trying to lose their virginity.

The 12 adult virgins who participated in the show, including Zac, were given extensive sexual therapy through a controversial method called somatic therapy, and saw them receive physical and intimate sessions with sexual therapists and ‘relationship surrogates’.

In an exclusive interview with LADbible, Zac explained that he had seen someone talking about the casting call for the series on TikTok and started filling in the form to apply.

Halfway through however, he decided against it – but had already inputted his number. Producers ended up giving him a ring after spotting his half-filled out form and convincing him to come on the TV show.

He said of telling his family he was going on the show: “My family… they were a bit sort of taken aback by it. They were a bit worried.

“They thought: ‘are you going to be able to handle all this being on the telly, sort of like exposing all of your sort of problems to the world?’ So they were a bit more cautious.”

Zac said though that, once he explained this is something he really wanted to do, they became on board.

The man, who remains a virgin to this day after not losing it on the show, revealed he watched a couple of the episodes with friends but that the later ones he decided to watch alone.

He said: “But a few of the episodes that were a bit more tough for me to watch, like I knew they would be. I watched them alone, a bit of a heads up, I guess. But yeah, I haven’t actually watched it with my family yet.”

The Virgin Island participant admitted that, amid controversy surrounding his actions on the show that saw one of the sex therapists, Kat, end his session early, his mother had found it hard viewing.

He added: “My mum, she was sort of like cringing, but I think it’s tough for her to see like me on the TV, doing all these things.

“I just think, I think it was better for us to be separate watching it.

“They enjoyed the show, and, you know, they love seeing me on it, and I think they’ve learned a lot more about me.”

When addressing his controversial actions on the show, Zac admitted he would do much of it differently and ‘cringed’ watching some of it back.

A season two has been confirmed to be in the works, after Channel 4 released a casting call for adult Virgins looking to take part.

When asked whether he’d be up for returning for a possible season two, Zac said: “I wish they would take me back! That would be brilliant.

“I really wanted more time there. I think there’s so much more I could have done. But, you know, we only had the two weeks. It’s a very limited amount of time to sort of work through all your troubles, so I definitely would.

“I mean, if I saw even half the improvement I did last time, then I would absolutely do it again.”
