“Disney’s Snow White Live-Action Trailer Unveils a Dark Twist on the Beloved Classic!”
The magic of Snow White is set to leap off the animated screen and into the world of live action, but hold onto your apples—it’s already stirring quite the buzz! The freshly released trailer introduces us to Rachel Zegler as the iconic princess, a role that follows her breakout performance in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story. Alongside her is Gal Gadot, ready to bring chills as the Evil Queen. But here’s the catch: even before its premiere, this film is drawing fire for the reinterpretation of beloved themes and characters. Zegler has sparked controversy with candid comments about the original storyline, challenging age-old narratives about romance and consent, while the portrayal of the seven dwarfs has been scrutinized, igniting a dialogue about representation and stereotypes. As the film gears up for its March 2025 release, the stakes have never been higher for a fairy tale reboot. Curious to dive into the details of this unfolding drama? LEARN MORE.
The first trailer has dropped for the live action Snow White film.
The movie is set to star Rachel Zegler, who rose to prominence when she was cast in West Side Story.
Her role in the Spielberg remake was her first ever on screen role.
She is joined in the film by Gal Gadot, who will be playing the Evil Queen.
While the film isn’t even close to being out yet, it has already been riddled with controversy.
In 2023, clips of Zegler discussing the remake went viral on X and TikTok in which she said: “The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so.
“There’s a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. So we didn’t do that this time.”
This led to a huge amount of criticism and controversy, which Zegler would later address in a Variety interview in which she said she was incredibly sad about the backlash to her comments.
She said: “I would never want to box someone in and say, ‘If you want love, then you can’t work’.
“Or ‘If you want to work, then you can’t have a family.’ It’s not true. It’s never been true.
“It can be very upsetting when things get taken out of context or jokes don’t land.
“The love story is very integral. A lot of people wrote that we weren’t doing (that storyline) anymore — we were always doing that; it just wasn’t what we were talking about on that day.”
The role of the seven dwarves in the movie was also a topic of hot controversy, with Peter Dinklage slamming the film for continuing to depict what he said were harmful stereotypes about little people.
