Singer Max George has revealed new health concerns just weeks after undergoing life-saving surgery.

The Wanted star disclosed over the weekend that he’d been fitted with a pacemaker at the end of last year after a trip to the hospital revealed he had an life-threatening heart problem.

Saying that he thought he was ‘going to die’ at the time, the singer explained that his heart rate dropped as low as 26 BPM, compared to the normal range of 60 to 100 BPM.

Now, just weeks after having the emergency operation, George has revealed this isn’t the end of his health concerns – as doctors have informed him that he will undergo further tests to determine the cause of his heart problem.

Sharing the health update in an interview with The Sun, the 36-year-old explained that he was scheduled to undergo a biopsy on his lungs after tests discovered enlarged lymph nodes in the area.

“The doctors have discovered enlarged lymph nodes on my lungs,” he said, adding that he was scheduled to undergo further surgery in the coming weeks.

“This could be a sign of what caused my heart problems,” George explained. “I’ve got to have a lung biopsy in a couple of weeks. It sounds pretty gnarly. It might tell us what the cause was.”

The concerning update follows George’s revelation that he had even begun to draft out a copy of his will on his phone after believing he could die while waiting for the surgery.

“That first night I wrote a will, I thought I was going to die,” he said in an earlier interview with The Sun.

Adding that he’d been placed on a ward with people around three decades older than him, the singer recalled: “If I could go from being absolutely on top of the world to being told ‘the bottom part of your heart isn’t working’, I kept thinking in my head, ‘Well, what if the top half stops working overnight?’

“When you get told that you really realise what your responsibilities are. I’ve got a partner, Maisie, I’ve got a family.

“I’ve got two little nephews and all of that stuff really comes to the front of it all. I was on the heart ward with about six elderly people, I was at least 30 years younger than them.”

Fortunately the surgery was a success, with George revealing the moment he was reunited with girlfriend Maisie Smith after the operation.

“The first face I saw was Maisie’s and I remember that being really nice,” he said. “Like that was the first time I actually felt like a real person again, and I had a heart.”
