A man who went in for some medical tests was shocked to learn what just 20 puffs on the alternative to smoking could do to the human body.
Patrick Gower took a few puffs on a vape and his reaction was to say ‘yuck’, but what was really awful was what just a few toots of the gaseous kazoo could do to you.
Dr Kelly Burrowes was studying his body to see how it reacted to just a brief go at vaping and compared the levels of blood flowing through his lungs before and afterwards.

She explained that three puffs on the vape led to this man having 14 percent more blood flowing through his lungs, leaving the bloke surprised and rather dismayed by how little it took to start affecting how his body operated.
Similar experiments done on others had resulted in similar conclusions, with the doc finding that among regular vapers, a person’s blood flow went up when they vaped, likely due to the highly addictive substance nicotine that comes with vaping.
The doctor added that in other studies around vaping it was found to raise a person’s blood pressure, which is not a good thing, and their heart rate increased.
Saying that this was alright every now and then as heart rates changed anyway, the doctor warned that regularly vaping throughout the day would start to have consequences on the body.
She explained: “If you’re doing it 20 times a day your blood vessels will start to remodel.
“They potentially get stiffer, that can then lead to increased risk of heart disease and stroke.”
Patrick’s response was a rather simple, but effective, utterance of ‘holy s**t’.

Even in vapes without nicotine, there’s a pronounced impact on the body, with studies finding less blood flowing around the rest of your body.
If you quit vaping then your body will start to recover from the consequences, after just about 20 minutes your heart rate will return to normal and your blood pressure drops.
Your lungs will start recovering within a month, and as time goes by you’ll get better and better, though it is likely that you’ll begin to experience withdrawal symptoms which will diminish over time.
