“Close Call: Shocking GoPro Footage Reveals the Harrowing Moment One Man Encounters a Great White Shark!”

Ever had one of those heart-in-your-throat moments where you just know something’s about to go sideways? Well, watch out! This hair-raising video might just be the adrenaline rush you never asked for. You see, casting your GoPro into the abyss, whether it’s the murky depths of the ocean or the endless sky, has become all the rage on social media. But hold your horses— while those cameras are practically indestructible, dropping them into the ocean might teach us that some depths are best left unexplored. With a staggering 71% of our planet covered by water and only a mere 5% of our oceans checked out, who knows what lurking monsters lie beneath? So, if you’ve ever fancied face-to-face time with a shark, you’ll want to buckle up for this wild ride! Spoiler alert: It doesn’t end well for those who tempt fate. Curious about what went down? LEARN MORE.

This might be one of the most terrifying videos you’ll see today.

Dropping your GoPro into obscure places is one of the latest trends doing the rounds on social media, whether it be looking beneath a cruise ship or seeing how space really looks like, the cameras are near unbreakable.

While people may want to bring it with them to film their extreme activities, I think we’ve learnt our lesson when it comes to bringing it into the deep sea.

Around 71 percent of our planet’s surface consists of water, and yet, we’ve only explored five percent of oceans.

Let’s be honest as well, a lot of what we already know about it is fairly terrifying.

Think about sharks, for instance. Coming face to face to one is something almost everyone wants to avoid, but what if the sea predator catches you by surprise?

This is how a lot of shark attacks occur, granted, but some are lucky enough to live and tell the tale.

One viral video shows this happening first-hand, as a diver named Johan Potgieter drops to the depth they were planning to get to, only to get a nasty surprise.

Those of you with galeophobia should look away.

Posted on GoPro’s official YouTube channel, the clip is rated at number one in a compilation titled ‘GoPro: Top 10 Scariest Moments’.

Reaching his desired depth, Johan has a look around at what’s around him, only to see a Great White Shark blindside him from the left, swimming past.

He’s understandably startled, and can be heard screaming under water, trying to get the sea creature to swim away.

Johan quickly resurfaces and shouts to members on his boat: “White, white!”

Looking down beneath the surface again, he realises that the shark has resurfaced with him, and is swimming in circles around him.

He yells again: “Watch out for the White!”

They are the largest predatory fish on the planet after all, and can reach lengths of up to 20 feet (6.1 metres) long.

Making his way back to the boat, he looks underwater one more time, seeing no sign of the shark, scarily saying: “He nearly ate me.”

It’s something you’d only wish on your worst enemies, and the relief Johan felt as he got back onboard the small boat would have been overwhelming.

Viewers of the clip took to the comments, as one wrote: “The great white one is something out of nightmares!! The way it just appears so quickly!!”

Another said: “That last one with the great white, spearfishing in such murky water is just begging to get eaten. Dude got real lucky.”

A third pointed out: “Keep in mind these are really the scariest videos *where everything turned out OK*. There could be a much more disturbing version of this video.”

That’s me not stepping foot in the ocean for the rest of the year, then.
