You may not watch Come Dine With Me, but you’ll recognise this viral sensation when you see him.

The episode originally aired on Channel 4 back in May 2013, and it was going like any other instalment in the series, with contestants from Burnley tasked with hosting a dinner at their home to be rated by their guests.

Everyone’s playing for the grand prize of £1,000, and pride, of course – because who wants to get humiliated and come last?

Cue ‘what a sad little life Jane‘.

But if you’re looking for a guide on how you shouldn’t taste food from a whisk, then look no further:

That’s none other than Come Dine With Me contestant Kev Riley with his own viral moment from the show.

His menu included a malted milk cheesecake that would be made from scratch, and as he winged the whole recipe, chucking an unspecified amount of cream cheese in, he then had to start again after spotting chilli flakes in the pan.

But no-one remembers any of that. No. We remember how he tasted his sweet concoction.

He placed the entire whisk in his mouth in what can only be described as the weirdest taste test ever seen.

Now a wedding DJ, his split-second moment lives long in the memory of many Brits, and while many show him love, there have been some less pleasant interactions that he’s had to endure.

But now, in an interview with FUBAR Radio on Wednesday (26 February), Kev spoke about how much he has made from the moment.

In a chat with host Andrew White as part of Pulse Of The Nation, he pointed out: “My wife is constantly reminding me that I don’t make any money out of this fame.

“Maybe it should have been something more expensive I put in my mouth because you can’t really brand a whisk. They’re about two quid, aren’t they?”

Despite not making a penny, he revealed that he does personalised video messages on Cameo, saying that he makes an ‘modicum amount of money’ from the side hustle.

The DJ added: “When I spoke to Rob Beckett about it, when I was on his show, he said somebody with that many hits on YouTube, he said over 50 million. I should have at least had a nice car or holiday out of it.”

Explaining why he did the bizarre action in the first place, Kev said that his three opponents were ‘really good cooks’, while he ‘was struggling’.

“I had a producer who had a bit of a soft spot for me, and she was even chopping up my veg and I was doing it to make her laugh,” he claimed.

Kev said that he ‘shouted to her’, and put it in his mouth as a joke.

“It was only when I saw the camera crew laughing that I realised it was a moment.”

The DJ even revealed that he still has the original whisk, and suggested that it ‘might go for a bit on eBay’, if and when he wants to sell it.
