A young boy who was the subject of a Netflix documentary has been found seven years after he was abducted.

Abdul Aziz Khan was abducted in Georgia in 2017 at the age of seven, and was the feature of Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries documentary series.

He was found this week by chance, 1,500 miles away from where he was taken.

Khan happened to be found by police after authorities were called out to the site of a burglary.

Two intruders happened to be spotted via a home surveillance camera by the home owner, with police deputies rushing to the scene.

Upon arriving, they found two children in the back of a car parked nearby. One of these two children was Abdul Aziz Khan, now 14.

Two adults were arrested leaving the property, one of whom being Khan’s mother, Rabia Khalid, who was wanted for kidnapping her son from her father.

This story had been the topic of the Netflix documentary series, the tagline of which reads: ‘Real cases of perplexing disappearances, shocking murders and paranormal encounters fuel this gripping revival of the iconic documentary series’.

The streamers were even thanked by the US Marshals Service, who stated that the documentary had helped publicise the case.

U.S. Marshal Enix Smith III said in a statement: “This significant development follows a lengthy seven-year search.

“I extend my sincere gratitude to all involved in the recovery effort, especially the authorities in Douglas County, Colorado, for their swift and effective actions.

“Also, we would like to thank NCMEC, Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries, and Crimestoppers GNO for directing the public’s attention to this matter.”

Khalid, as well as the man arrested alongside her Elliot Blake Bourgeois, were both charged with Second Degree Kidnapping, Forgery, Identity Theft, Providing False Information to Authorities, and Trespassing.

The 14-year-old-abductee’s family released an emotional statement, saying: ‘We’re overwhelmed with joy that Aziz has finally been found.

“We want to thank everyone for their support over the last seven years.

“We specifically want to recognize the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office for their exceptional work in solving this case.

“Now, as we navigate the next steps, we ask for privacy so that we can move forward as a family and heal together.”

The second child found alongside Aziz has yet to be identified.

Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries described how Khalid had failed to show up to a custody hearing one day, leading to a warrant being issued for her arrest.

She has reportedly pulled her son from class at his elementary school, abandoned her Atlanta apartment, and neither have been seen in public since.
