The Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss recently spoke out about a ‘creepy’ act from one of the show’s crew members.
With the Hulu show wrapping its sixth and final season in February this year, the actress revealed that Executive Producers were offered the chance to call ‘dibs’ on items on set.
After first hitting the air in 2017, The Handmaid’s Tale, which is based on the 1985 novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood, became a huge hit with viewers as it explored female oppression and the idea of societal control.
Set in the dystopian, theocratic Republic of Gilead, fertile women are used to bear children for the upper class, with everyone else having no freedom or rights.
The women are called Handmaids, hence the series name.
Moss plays the main character, June Osborne, also known as Offred or Ofjoseph depending on how much of the show you’ve seen.
The 42-year-old is known for her headline TV roles in series such as The West Wing and Mad Men, but her role in this dystopian-drama is unlike anything she’s done before.
With the popular show coming to a close this spring, Moss unsurprisingly wanted to keep a number of things close to her character as she waved the role goodbye, but admitted that one of the more personal items that she wanted, was already taken.
Speaking during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel! Live, the American actress bizarrely revealed that someone had requested to have her character’s underwear.
While it is custom made for Moss and a unique feature of the character, she said that she didn’t know who had asked for the undergarments.
Since the story went viral though, the culprit made himself known to the actress.

At first, the actress revealed what happened to Kimmel on his show, explaining: “We had an email sent to all of the EPs that said, that was a full list of all the props and costumes that we could… take.
“In a very mature way I wrote back ‘dibs’ and then proceeded to say everything I wanted,” she recalled.
But that was when she made the shocking discovery, as she said: “And there was one thing I wanted, which was Offred’s underwear… that I wore. “
“That was specially designed. And someone told me that someone already asked for it,” she claimed.
Kimmel couldn’t believe it, labelling the staff member who requested it as a ‘creep’, adding: “Like, ‘I want Elisabeth’s underpants, I’m gonna take them home, I’m gonna put them in storage for a while!'” He joked.
She playfully replied, calling it the ‘best case scenario’, while also admitting that she didn’t want to know who was responsible, as she ‘wants to work with these people’.

Kimmel called the statement ‘crazy’, saying: “What kind of a crazy thing is that to say!”
He went on: “Oh my God, I hope it’s a woman!… Someone made a formal request for your underwear, like in writing, in an email that they shared with other people! We need to know who this person is!”
Following the interview though, the actress spoke to People and admitted: “I think it’s so funny.
“Also, I know who it is, but I need him to [reveal himself],” she stated.
Luckily though, the person wasn’t as ‘creepy’ as expected, with Moss saying that they didn’t ‘specifically’ ask for them, adding: “It’s not bad. It’s not as bad as we thought it was.”
The final season of The Handmaid’s Tale will be available to stream on Hulu today (8 April).
