Blake Lively’s Camp Fires Back as Taylor Swift Is Dragged Into Shocking Legal Battle—What Are They Hiding?

Blake Lively’s Camp Fires Back as Taylor Swift Is Dragged Into Shocking Legal Battle—What Are They Hiding?

Can someone please explain to me why, in 2024, every major courtroom showdown turns into a Hollywood crossover event? One minute, you’ve got legal heavyweights duking it out over sexual harassment allegations on the set of It Ends With Us—the next, Taylor Swift gets subpoenaed like she’s wandered into an episode of Law & Order: Tabloid Unit. What’s really going on here? Not even Game of Thrones would have scripted a plot twist this juicy, and trust me—I’ve binge-watched enough late-night lawyer dramas to know!

I’ll admit it: when I first read that Blake Lively had to unleash her own “dragons” (read: Ryan Reynolds and Taylor Swift) in her texts with Justin Baldoni, I nearly spit out my black coffee . I mean, isn’t her real superpower epic comebacks and memes, not court filings? But after months of (relative) quiet, the legal fracas exploded back into the limelight—this time with Baldoni’s legal eagles issuing subpoenas straight out of left field, apparently trying to turn a blockbuster trial into… well, more blockbuster entertainment . And as if things weren’t surreal enough, now we have reps for all parties issuing statements that sound less like legalese and more like Emmy acceptance speeches.

Did Taylor ask for this drama? Not even close—her only “crime” might be allowing one of her heartbreak anthems to make it onto the soundtrack . Yet somehow, the world’s biggest pop star now finds herself caught in the crossfire, with Lively’s camp calling the whole circus a calculated ploy for clickbait and tabloid headlines . Who needs Netflix when real-life celebrity squabbles are streaming 24/7? Ready for all the latest details (and yes, the messiness)? LEARN MORE.

A representative for Blake Lively has issued a stern response to Justin Baldoni’s team over the decision to subpoena the actor’s friend Taylor Swift.

Updates about Lively and Baldoni‘s It Ends With Us legal case had largely gone quiet over the past couple of months, after both camps received a rebuttal from a New York judge over allegedly giving ‘the public plenty to feast upon’ with public statements ahead of their March 2026 trial.

However, the case is back in the news once again, after Baldoni’s camp made the decision to subpoena the ‘Blank Space’ singer on Friday (9 May).

In a statement addressing the decision to include Swift in court filings, a representative for Lively accused Baldoni and his team of trying ‘to turn a case of sexual harassment and retaliation into entertainment for the tabloids’.

“This is a very serious legal matter, not Barnum & Bailey’s Circus,” the statement read (via Deadline).

“The defendants continue to publicly intimidate, bully, shame and attack women’s rights and reputations. Including in the past month seeking to strike down for all, a powerful California victims’ rights law, calling it ‘unconstitutional’.

“The disturbing actions by a billionaire, men who made their careers as ‘female allies’ and their team continue to show their true colours.”

According to court documents filed by Baldoni, Lively had allegedly referred to Swift and her husband Ryan Reynolds as her ‘dragons’ in a text exchange with the actor-director, following a discussion about script changes.

“If you ever get around to watching Games of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better,” she allegedly wrote in the message, to which Baldoni reportedly replied that he had loved her script changes ‘without Ryan and Taylor’.

“I really love what you did. It really does help a lot. Makes it so much more fun and interesting. (And I would have felt that way without Ryan and Taylor),” Baldoni allegedly replied.

The Jane the Virgin star’s team has also claimed the exchange is in reference to both Reynolds and Swift being present at a meeting to discuss script changes.

A representative for Swift has also issued a statement in response to the move, claiming the ‘Shake It Off’ singer had no connection to the production of It Ends With Us beyond her song ‘My Tears Ricochet’ being included in the soundtrack.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” a statement issued to NBC’s Today read.

The response goes on to state that Swift didn’t see the film until ‘weeks after its public release’ and had been travelling for the her Eras Tour shows at the time.

“The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet,’” the statement continues.

“Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case.”

LADbible Group has contacted a representative for Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Justin Baldoni for further comment.
