Frankie Muniz has issued an emotional statement on social media as filming for the reboot of Malcom in the Middle wraps.

At the end of last year it was confirmed that Muniz would be getting back together with his famous on-screen family after Disney+ announced they would be making a four-episode reboot of the iconic series.

Currently scheduled to hit our screens in December 2025, the new Malcolm in the Middle episodes will see a grown-up Malcolm and his siblings get together for the 40th wedding anniversary party of parents Hal and Lois.

Confirming that shooting for the reboot has now concluded, the 39-year-old actor and race car driver shared a heartfelt tribute to the show which made him famous.

“Just wrapped filming the Malcolm in the Middle reboot, and man, I’m still reeling,” he wrote on X.

“This experience was straight-up incredible – like stepping back into Malcolm’s wild world but with all the love and chaos cranked to 11.”

Writing that being on set had ‘felt like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from’, Muniz continued: “It went by so fast, like a blur of perfect moments. I wish it could go on forever.

“I’m so happy to have gotten the chance to relive being on this show with a greater appreciation of what we were making knowing how many people around the world truly love Malcolm and his family.”

Although Muniz has dedicated the past couple of years to racing, the actor went on to reveal that stepping back into the shoes of Malcolm had helped him realise how much he truly loved being an actor.

“I never officially felt like that label fit me, but now I wear that label proudly and hope to do so much more of it in the future,” he added, before concluding: “I am so sad to have to say goodbye to my MITM crew, I love each and everyone of you.

“And PS: Life’s Still Unfair.”

This isn’t the first reboot update which Muniz has shared on social media, with the NASCAR driver posting a snap of himself Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek in character, alongside the caption: “Always good to have Mom and Dad around!”

Alongside Muniz, Cranston and Kaczmarek, Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will also be reprising their roles as Malcolm’s older brothers Francis and Reese.

The group will be joined by series newcomers such as Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, who is taking over the role of Dewey from Erik Per Sullivan as well as Anthony Timpano and Vaughan Murrae, who will be playing Hal and Lois’ youngest children Jamie and Kelly.

They will be joined by Kiana Madeira and Keeley Karsten, who are playing the roles of Malcolm’s girlfriend and daughter respectively.
