A woman once shared why her initials stop her from having an email address that includes them at work.

She explained that HR refused to include her initials in emails, with all the trouble causing her to want to change her last name.

Many people would change parts of their name if they had the power to, but very rarely do you hear stories of people being refused actual work emails.

Samantha took to social media last year to explain her struggles, and the obstacles she faces in the business world as a result. And what better way to complain about your problems than taking to TikTok to have a healthy vent about it all?

Why won’t they use her initials?

Known as @thesam_show online, the 29-year-old said that she is worried about how the HR team in her upcoming job will deal with her unfortunate name issue.

She revealed: “My name is Samantha Hart. And most companies use the email designation of first initial, last name, meaning my email would be ‘shart’.”

For those of you with more decorum, ‘shart’ is a slang word that combines the words ‘fart’ and ‘s**t’. Lovely.

“I don’t want an email that says shart. Fix it. Give me something else,” she admitted.

Speaking about her new job, she added that while she is excited, the prospect of her potential email address left her ‘filled with dread’, due to the standard ‘company email structure’ that is followed by most businesses.

“I did investigate the email structure at this new company and they do in fact use first initial, last name – which means that I am going to have another very uncomfortable conversation with somebody,” Samantha admitted.

The content creator suggested that she could reach out and be completely up front about it, before wondering if HR should ‘initiate the conversation’.

Samantha added: “The ‘shart’ conversation, if you will – which I have had three times in my life. It’s such a blessing to be me!”

What action did she take?

Luckily, there was a solution, after Samantha was made to suffer through her ‘two professional jobs’ up to that point.

In an update video, she revealed that she’d be changing her last name after getting married, adding: “I’m going to take my future husband’s last name.”

“So my thought with this new job is this will be the last time I ever have to do this,” she pointed out.

Describing it as a ‘lovely feeling’, in not needing to send an email to HR about the issue, Samantha added: “So, yes, getting rid of the ‘shart’ is just one reason I’m changing my last name.”

That wasn’t all though, as the TikToker said that she wanted to have the same surname as her husband anyway, wanting her ‘family to have one name’.
