Inside the Unbelievable Household Where a Woman Lives with Her New Husband and Ex—Discover How They Make It Work!

Ever wondered what it’s like to live in a house where your husband and your ex not only coexist but actually get along? Sounds like the setup for a reality show, right? Well, Megan Meyer from South Carolina is proving that unconventional can also mean practical—especially when the cost of living is skyrocketing and juggling two households just isn’t cutting it. After splitting with her husband Tyler and marrying an old flame named Michael, Megan did the unthinkable: she invited both men—and her kids—under one roof. It’s not just a money-saving hack; it’s a new kind of family dynamic where the goal is to keep the peace, avoid endless back-and-forth, and maybe even build a future “family compound.” Intrigued? Me too—let’s dive into how Megan’s bold move is challenging all the typical family rules. LEARN MORE.

A woman who lives with both her husband and her ex to save money has said they actually get along really well.

Megan Meyer, from South Carolina, split up with her husband Tyler in 2023 after three years of marriage and having had a child together.

She then got together with an old partner named Michael and they tied the knot last year, with their family gaining a new addition a couple of months later.

However, with the punishing cost of living crisis bearing down on people from all over the world, Megan told The Daily Mail she came up with a way for her to have both of her children under one roof while saving loads of money – they would all live together in the same house.

Now Megan’s household consists of herself, her husband Michael, her children and her ex-husband Tyler in a somewhat unorthodox living arrangement.

She explained that one of the main reasons for her still living with her ex was to avoid confusing their daughter, who’d found moving back and forth between them ‘so hard’, while the money was another reason.

Megan said: “Financially, we all wanted to save more money and cut expenses in half, so since the guys were starting to get along so well we just thought, why not?

“It has helped us save a lot of money for our end goal, which is to eventually buy a big plot of land and have two separate homes on it. Basically a family compound.”

She said that the living arrangement worked as it meant that their kids always had both parents around and there was no going ‘back and forth’ between different homes.

It’s not all sunshine and roses, however, as Megan admitted that she can ‘bicker’ something fierce with her ex-husband Tyler and it sometimes takes her husband Michael to step in and calm her down.

But she said that she argued with her ex ‘more like siblings than anything else’, and everyone does their bit as far as the house upkeep is concerned.

As for how she and her husband get on with nudge-nudge-wink-wink in a house where her ex-husband lives, Megan told the Mail that they keep displays of affection to the bedroom and stay out of ‘common areas’.

Fortunately, she added that there’s ‘been lots of healing’ so having her ex living with her and her husband isn’t quite the nightmare you’d fear it to be.

“There’s been lots of healing, and moving forward in all of the ways. Nothing was ever left lingering on any side of this equation.” she said.

It’s not the usual household, but given how blooming expensive things are these days, it’s not the craziest idea in the world.
