Amy Bradley, a woman who disappeared in 1998, has not been found to this day.

Her disappearance from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship at 23 years old eventually led to her being declared dead by absentia in 2010, however, a body was never found.

Amy’s family maintain that she is alive to this day, pointing to a number of signs that she survived the incident, as they stated in the new Netflix documentary Amy Bradley is Missing.

There is one incident, however, that may point to the horrifying reality that she did actually die. A jawbone washed up onto a shore in Aruba, nearby to where the cruise ship was travelling when Amy went missing.

The theory among many for years has been that, after a night of drinking, she tragically fell off the side of the boat. This is, of course, made difficult by the fact that a body has never been found.

Bradley is one of a number of people to have disappeared in similar fashion in the area, including the case of 18-year-old Natalee Holloway. She disappeared from the island of Aruba in 2005.

While her remains were never found, local authorities discovered a jawbone that washed up on an Aruban beach in 2010. Amy disappeared early on in a cruise journey from Aruba to Curaçao.

It was tested against Natalee’s dental records and found not to be hers.

It was, however, believed to be the jawbone of a Caucasian but has never received any further DNA testing, with CNN questioning at the time whether it could belong to Amy.

The case has been stalled for years, with the family hoping that the recently released Netflix documentary will aid in their search for her.

The last major update in the search for answers came in 2005 when a woman closely resembling Amy showed up on a sex worker website based out of the Caribbean.

FBI forensic investigators have stated that the woman in question could very possibly be Amy Bradley.

An FBI agent close to the case, Erin Sheridan, said in the Netflix doc: “A forensic analyst looked at the photo and believed that that was Amy Bradley.”

The family renewed efforts, conducting multiple interviews after this, but have not got any closer to finding answers.

While investigators initially stated that they believed Amy likely fell to her death or committed suicide, they went on to doubt this.

People magazine reported that investigators had said that ‘there is no evidence that Amy, a trained lifeguard, fell overboard, was pushed or committed suicide’.

Amy Bradley is Missing is available to watch on Netflix now.
