Footage of Jeffrey Epstein speaking about Donald Trump has resurfaced as questions about the US President’s association with the convicted sex offender don’t appear to be going away any time soon.

Epstein – who was found dead in a prison cell in 2019 and given an official verdict of suicide, which not everyone believes – has been linked with several famous names that make up a supposed ‘client list’.

The sex offender has been linked with many prominent figures over the years, and there has been much speculation on why certain names in the Epstein files appeared.

Plenty of conspiracy theories swirl around his death and those he would associate with; and one suspects the more partisan theorists won’t be satisfied unless names are named and those names happen to be people the theorists dislike.

As for how Donald Trump factors into all of this, he knew Epstein for several years with them initially having met as New York socialites.

In 2002, long before he began his first term of presidency, Trump told New York magazine that Epstein was a ‘terrific guy’, saying: “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Trump is also alleged to have written the convicted sex offender a letter for his 50th birthday, telling him ‘may every day be another wonderful secret’, though he has claimed this is ‘fake’.

Questions about his association with Epstein keep coming as Trump has attempted to put some distance between the two of them with claims that photos of the men standing together are ‘fake news‘ and argued that there’s a ‘witch hunt‘ against him, in 2019 he also claimed he was actually ‘not a fan’ of Epstein’s.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Trump was told back in May that his name was in the Epstein files ‘multiple times’.

Now, a video of Epstein being questioned about Trump in 2010 has resurfaced and sees the sex offender refusing to answer one of the questions.

In the footage, Epstein was asked if he had a ‘personal relationship’ with Trump and was told they were asking if he’d ‘socialised with him’, with him answering in the affirmative.

However, when asked whether he’d ever ‘socialised with Donald Trump in the presence of females under the age of 18’, Epstein refused to answer the question.

He said he would ‘assert my Fifth, Sixth, and 14th Amendment rights’ not to answer the question at that point.

For those wondering what that means, in the US, the Fifth Amendment allows a person to refuse to answer questions if the answer might incriminate them.

The Sixth Amendment gives a person the right to a trial with a jury and some legal representation for them, while the 14th Amendment gives them a right to due process.

According to other tapes reported on by the Daily Beast which Trump called ‘false smears’, Epstein elsewhere described himself as Trump’s ‘closest friend for 10 years’.
