This is what happened to ‘Father God’, the former partner of Love Has Won cult leader Amy Carlson.

In November 2023, HBO released an absolutely wild docuseries titled Love Has Won: The Cult of Mother God, which followed the life of Carlson, her introduction to New Age religion, journey to becoming a cult leader and eventual death in 2021, at the age of 45.

Originally from Kansas, Carlson had found herself entangled in the world of spirituality in the mid-2000s and eventually abandoned her children to form a cult in 2007.

She later created ‘Love Has Won’ and styled herself as ‘Mother God’, an ancient being who had been reincarnated 534 times. She claimed previously lived lives included Joan of Arc, Jesus and Marilyn Monroe.

Amy Carlson’s bizarre death

Carlson would pass away in April 2021, with her cause of death being listed as a combination of alcohol abuse, anorexia and ingesting colloidal silver, a controversial supplement which can turn the skin blue.

Her mummified body, covered in fairy lights and glitter, would later be discovered in the group’s compound, situated in rural Colorado, which had been turned into a shrine. The discovery of her body led to several members of the group being charged with abuse of a corpse.

Carlson’s death would lead the group to splinter into different factions, with 5D Full Disclosure being the main successor group.

A second group would also be created by Carlson’s then-partner Jason Castillo.

What happened to Jason Castillo?

Castillo, who earned the name ‘Father God’ in the group, went on to form his own cult, named Joy Rains.

The group’s beliefs appear to be similar to that of Love Has Won, with the website stating that ‘Mother’ and ‘Father God’ appear to have joined forces inside Castillo’s body after Carlson’s death in 2021.

“Mama and papa have done everything possible to save us, and have successfully done so, so we can complete our task of remembering our creators,” reads another post from the site.

It’s not clear what the specific beliefs of Joy Rains are, however, they do take donations from followers as well as offering couples and parenting classes.

Outside of his antics in New Age spirituality, Castillo appears to have had several run ins with the law.

He was one of seven people to be arrested after Carlson’s death over the treatment of her body.

Meanwhile, InTouch reported that Castillo has a criminal record in the states of Florida, California and Nevada. However he had a clean record in the state of Colorado, which worked in his favour during the investigation after Carlson’s death.
