A K-pop singer has ‘disgusted’ some fans after sharing footage of her getting rather intimate with her dog.

Kim Chaewon, the leader of Korean girl group Le Sserafim, first entered the spotlight after appearing in reality series Produce 48 seven years ago.

Before joining Le Sserafim, the 25-year-old was a member of the Iz*One group.

But now, fans of the popular musician – who has over nine million followers on Instagram – have been left scratching their heads after a number of videos online show Chaewon ‘French-kissing’ her dog.

Shared on Korean social media platform Weverse, as well as on X and TikTok, the clip sees the singer lay on the bed and ground while her pet Shiro enthusiastically licks her face.

She appears to be giving it as well as she got it, as the dog is relentlessly licking her mouth.

Things got particularly weird at one point when Chaewon makes kissing noises as Shiro is on top of her.

“That video of Chaewon and her dog is FOUL and no, people are not overreacting!” one person commented.

“She let her dog lick the inside of her mouth, touching tongues at one point, for a whole 20 seconds.

“That’s a whole make out session with a f**king dog you will not convince me it’s not that weird and disgusting.”

A second added: “She loves her dog a little too much,” as someone else said: “Damn, that’s disgusting.”

“Please stop putting that disgusting video of Chaewon and her dog down my timeline, I can’t take it anymore!” another plead.

Unsurprisingly, kissing a dog on the mouth can expose you to a load of bacteria, such as Pasteurella and Capnocytophaga.

Pasteurella can cause rapid infections and Capnocytophaga has even triggered severe sepsis in rare cases.

As reported by Vet Street, Dr Shelley Rankin, associate professor of microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, said: “It’s my belief, professionally and personally, that you should not let your dog lick your face.”

Rankin points out that people with compromised immune systems are at risk of contracting illnesses, particularly if a dog licks ‘anywhere the skin is broken’.

Dr Glenn Wortmann, section chief of Infectious Diseases at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, also said that if one of his patients has an open wound, the first thing he will ask is if they have a pet.

He said on one occasion a pet licked the wound of a diabetic and that person become seriously ill.
