Katie Price’s hairdresser has responded after she was accused of ‘blackfishing’.
The mum-of-five debuted a dramatic new look recently but totally divided fans over just how true that look really is to her.
The Pricey isn’t a stranger to controversy over her appearance and typically takes it all in her stride, not letting the trolls get to her.
But this time round, there’s a slightly more of a serious tone as some fans feel as though Price has done ‘blackface’ – when someone (typically a white person) changes their features or skin tone using makeup or otherwise to resemble a Black person.
It comes after the 47-year-old celebrity shared an Instagram post of her new hairstyle, having ditched the dark straight locks for an auburn balayage of voluminous curls.

With the new hair fitted, fans also noted her darker, tanned face in the photo as some claimed she was ‘turning herself into a woman of colour’.
However, celebrity hairstylist and wig creator Dominic Ackah-Amihere (who fitted Price’s new do) reckons the backlash is simply ‘crazy’.
Many have defended Price as they say she is ‘entitled to go curly’ as some pointed out that: “Her hair is curly naturally and her mum’s hair is as well.”
Ackah-Amihere wrote in response to the ‘blackface’ allegations: “The world has gone crazy. I’m Black & She has a Black son, NO BLACKFISHING ROUND HERE HUNS.”
Price also slammed on Instagram: “Clearly my face isn’t Black just because I put a big curly wig on…”
However, some are still standing by the accusations as one wrote: “I think it’s more maybe the colour of her skin that people have an issue with lol.”

Another alleged: “Her hair is not the issue at all. The issue is that she has darkened her skin so much to the point of cosplaying a person of colour and, aside from the fact that it looks terrible, it’s offensive… We are not a costume that you can pick up and put down when you feel like. Our culture is not for her to make money off of and then disappear when our communities suffer. This is black-face, full stop.”
With another simply responding to the hair dresser’s defence: “Having a Black son doesn’t make her Black.”
Some, however, said she ‘looks really good’ and that she ‘looks absolutely amazing as always’ as they can’t see what ‘everyone’s issue’ is.
“It’s called tan you fools,” another slammed.
Price’s team declined LADbible’s request for comment.
