A musician was forced to strip off to her underwear while performing at a festival, as the heatwave continues to cook the continent.

It’s not just us Brits who are spending the week sweating in our schools, homes and workplaces, as the entire of Europe is currently being baked by scorching temperatures, with the mercury reaching as high as 40C in some places.

One place this was sure felt at was Germany’s Hurricane Festival.

Faced with sweltering temperatures both on the stage, Jordan Miller, lead singer of Canadian rock band The Beaches, decided that desperate times call for desperate measures, and decided to strip off mid-song.

And to be honest, fair play to her, as I’m sure most of us would prefer not to spend the workday with our clothes sticking to us.

The viral moment has since sparked a debate online, with viewers questioning whether or not it was appropriate for Miller to strip off on stage.

“Respectfully, what is the purpose of this? How does it relate to the music,” wrote one person, while a second added: “No sorry but no ? Purpose of this.”

However, not everyone was critical of Miller’s decision, with several people rightly pointing out that no one would be bothered if a male musician opted to take his top off mid-performance.

“No different than wearing a bikini,” wrote one follower, while a second penned: “These comments did not pass the vibe check.”

Meanwhile, a third person summed up the situation perfectly, adding: “Why is everyone hating we should be saying congrats on not getting heat stroke.”

The band have since thanked fans for sticking with them throughout the sweaty set, sharing comparison images of how they looked before and after performing on stage.

“Hurricane fest before & after,” they wrote. “thanks for having us you were so hot.”

The Beaches are currently riding a wave of popularity after their song ‘Edge of the Earth’ was featured in an episode of Prime Video series Off Campus.

During the second episode of the hockey romance series, which has been a runaway streaming hit, lead character Hannah references the group, telling fake boyfriend Garrett that The Beaches’ 2025 Coachella set ‘will change your life’.

Later on in the story, Garrett blasts the 2023 track after developing feelings for Hannah, which has led to a real-life spike in streams for the ‘Edge of the Earth’ online.

Reacting to the massive popularity of the show and the knock-on effect it’s had for the band, Miller told Rolling Stone: “We were all really shocked. It’s just been an absolute rollercoaster.”
