The Shocking Story Behind the ‘Eunuch Maker’ Chef Who Drove a Surgeon to Self-Amputation on Live Stream
Ever wonder what happens when a man goes from inspiring an NHS surgeon’s shocking self-amputation plan to running a pay-per-view site featuring live-streamed mutilations? Yeah, me neither — but here we are. Meet Marius Gustavson, aka the ‘Eunuch Maker,’ a guy who turned body horror into a lucrative online business, raking in nearly £300,000 by filming gruesome surgeries like castrations and limb freezing on his so-called ‘willing customers.’ It’s equal parts chilling and bizarre, especially knowing some participants were as young as sixteen. His antics even inspired a once-respected NHS vascular surgeon, Neil Hopper, to self-amputate his legs after learning from Gustavson’s twisted playbook. With over 22,000 subscribers glued to this grisly content, it begs the question: what drives a person to monetize such an extreme, underground niche — and what kind of world do we live in where this can happen? Dive in if you dare.
A man who inspired an NHS surgeon’s sickening plot to get his own legs amputated broadcasted a host of horrifying content to paying customers.
Known as the ‘Eunuch Maker’, Marius Gustavson made a lot of money from mutilating willing participants and livestreaming these extreme body modifications.
The 48-year-old was described as ‘a butcher’ and ‘an arch-manipulator’ when he was jailed for life in 2024 at the Old Bailey – and the court heard all of the sordid details of his ‘lucrative’ online enterprise.
Gustavson was the man behind a chilling website named the ‘Eunuch Maker’, which operated on a pay-per-view model and earned him nearly £300,000. Worryingly, the site is thought to have amassed over 22,000 users.
Punters were charged to see an array of disturbing videos, including castrations, penis removal and the freezing of limbs.

Gustavson and his medically unqualified accomplices performed a series of makeshift operations in hotel rooms and flats in London on ‘willing customers’. Some were as young as 16.
The Norway-native, who moved to the UK in 2012, also got others to perform sickening procedures on him, including having his penis removed in 2017, before he then had his nipple removed two years later.
He also froze his own leg so that it would need to be amputated in February 2019 – which subsequently inspired NHS vascular surgeon Neil Hopper, 50, to do the same.
Gustavson claimed £18,000 in disability benefits in wake of this and also he kept his own severed penis in a drawer at home for years.
When sentencing him to life with a minimum term of 22 years, the most senior judge at the Old Bailey Mark Lucraft said: “You are very much the mastermind behind this grisly and gruesome enterprise.”
‘A large-scale, dangerous, and extremely disturbing enterprise’
“The business you set up was one that was both busy and lucrative. As with all the others involved, you have no medical qualifications,” Judge Lucraft said.
“The footage uploaded was extremely explicit and made available to paying subscribers no doubt so they could watch it for their sexual gratification…
“Like-minded individuals were recruited by you, Gustavson, to assist in what became a large-scale, dangerous, and extremely disturbing enterprise.”
He pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm, while five others were also imprisoned for their roles in the ‘gruesome and grisly’ plot.
The Old Bailey also heard that there was ‘clear evidence of cannibalism’ in relation to Gustavson, given some of the contents of the videos that he made.

Judge Lucraft referred to one occassion where the so-called ‘Eunuch Maker’ cooked what appeared to be human testicles, ‘which were then plated to be eaten’ with a salad.
His website also featured a ‘buy it now’ button, which allowed customers to purchase human tissue that had been acquired during the grisly procedures.
The court was told that Gustavson also ‘kept other body parts as trophies’, while the judge said he believed that his vile crimes had been motivated by a ‘mix of sexual gratification as well as financial reward’.
Kate Mulholland from the Crown Prosecution Service dubbed the procedures that were livestreamed as ‘barabaric’ and categorised Gustavson’s offending as ‘horrendous’.
Gustavson’s lawyer claimed that he suffers from a rare disorder known as body integrity identity disorder (BIID), which is an ‘extremely rare phenomenon of persons who desire the amputation of one or more healthy limbs or who desire a paralysis’.
Defence barrister Rashvinderjeet Panesar said that conducting these botched operations gave his client ‘feelings of empowerment and greater acceptance of himself and feelings of contentment with his own body’.
How the ‘Eunuch Maker’ website began
He told the Old Bailey: “From there, the Eunuch Maker website began. He does say he wished to put a smile on other people’s faces – he wanted to help.
“He was stuck in a body he wanted to make changes to, and understood there were more people out there who wished to do the same.”
Neil Hopper made a similar claim when he was being sentenced in September last year for possessing extreme pornography and insurance fraud.
The surgeon – who had carried out hundreds of amputations on patients before losing his own legs in 2019 – was exposed for his crimes after police began investigating Gustavson’s website.
He purchased clips showing men having their genitals removed and struck up a friendship with the ‘Eunuch Maker’.
The pair exchanged around 1,500 messages, including ones discussing how to use dry ice to inflict injuries which would leave him requiring amputation.
The court heard that Hopper had viewed his feet as an ‘unwelcome extra’ throughout his life and that they were a ‘persisting never-ending discomfort’ to him.
