Rockstar Games Breaks Silence: Shocking Details Emerge in GTA 6 Leak Fallout

Rockstar Games just dropped a heartfelt apology after what might be the biggest “oops” in gaming leaks history. You’d think the grand unveiling of Grand Theft Auto VI was locked in for August 27 on Netflix (yes, Netflix!), but nope — some sneaky leaker, going by the name ‘CyberLeek,’ decided to crash the party early by flooding the internet with eight hefty gameplay clips that look pretty legit. Now, I don’t know about you, but if I were Rockstar, I’d be clutching my controller tight and wondering: can a game survive the digital equivalent of a spoiler tornado? To add some spicy drama, this ‘gamer advocate’ slammed Rockstar for ditching physical discs, sparking a manifesto that’s part crusade, part rant. The studio’s been scrambling to clean up the mess, all while promising the polish and perfection we gamers crave — though the release date’s been pushed to November 19, 2026. So, here we are, caught between leaked thrills and the official reveal. Makes you wonder, does a leak kill the buzz, or just prove the game’s too hot to handle? LEARN MORE

Rockstar Games has issued a statement after a series of leaks linked to the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto game.

Fans waiting to see the game in action thought they had to wait until August 27 when the first extended trailer goes live on Netflix.

But an alleged leaker has brought that forward by posting eight lengthy clips of legitimate-looking gameplay online.

The ‘CyberLeek’ person or group claimed to be fighting for gamers and criticised Rockstar for releasing GTA 6 without a physical disc in an apparent manifesto.

It is not clear how old the version of the game is or how much of the leaked gameplay will be in the final release, but developers Rockstar and parent company Take-Two have been reportedly working to take the videos down and find whoever is responsible in recent weeks.

Rockstar says gameplay leak is ‘heartbreaking’

In a statement online finally responding to the leaks, Rockstar apologised for the delay in the release of the game.

Whilst the release was originally scheduled for May 26 last year, TakeTwo said that the studio required ‘some additional time to finish the game with the high level of polish players expect and deserve’.

The game has now been delayed to November 19, 2026. The first-look is still due to premiere on Thursday (27 August).

Responding to the leaks, Rockstar said: “We know that many of you have been waiting to hear from us regarding the events of the past week.

“It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.

“We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has – from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know.

They continued: “We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow.

“It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve.

“While it is unfortunate that the intended game experience may now be impacted by some spoilers, we hope that everyone will wait a bit longer to experience the game for themselves on November 19.

“We want to thank everyone in the community who has reached out with messages of support this past week – your words have meant more to this team than you can imagine.

“Ultimately, we are making this game for you, and without you, we would not have the privilege of making games. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.”
