The Dubai trial of influencer Brooke George has been postponed for just under two weeks, as the defence prepares to challenge witness accounts.
23-year-old George is currently behind bars in the Gulf state after being accused of killing her boyfriend, fellow British national William Treeby.
George does not deny stabbing Treeby on 21 June, but argues that she acted in self-defence after he assaulted her in his apartment.
Forensic accounts from the night concluded that George had sustained facial injuries on the night in question, which is consistent with her claims that she was assaulted.
If convicted of murder, the TikToker could potentially face either life in prison or execution by firing squad.

According to a new update from Detained in Dubai, George’s trial will resume on 21 September, when all witnesses who gave evidence against her will be summoned to court.

The move came after defence lawyers accused prosecution witnesses of having ‘discrepancies’ in their accounts of the evening.
Defence lawyers have also called for the person who performed an autopsy on Treeby to testify in order to determine whether or not the amount of alcohol consumed by the 26-year-old may have contributed to his death.
According to previous reports, Treeby was recorded as having a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 188mg/dL, or approximately 0.19 percent. Anything above 0.16 percent BAC is considered to be ‘heavily intoxicated’, meaning that a person’s ‘awareness, perception and reactions’ could likely be impaired.
Reacting to the case, Radha Stirling, founder and CEO of Detained in Dubai, said the update was an ‘extremely important’ one for the family.
“Until now, she has been sitting in a Dubai prison knowing that statements made against her contain gross discrepancies that have not yet been properly tested before the court,” Stirling said.

“There is now an opportunity for the defence to confront the evidence directly,” Stirling, who is assisting the George family, continued.
“Brooke’s lawyers have specifically asked that the people whose statements are being relied upon against her be brought before the court. Where accounts conflict, those discrepancies must be exposed and properly examined.
“It is particularly important that the medical evidence is scrutinised. The defence has raised serious questions concerning the deceased’s level of intoxication and wants the medical expert who examined his body to answer those questions before the court.
She added: “The next hearing could therefore be extremely significant. We hope the witnesses attend, that the defence is given a genuine opportunity to challenge their accounts and that the medical evidence is examined thoroughly and independently.”
