Roger Waters Unleashes Shocking Insult at Ed Sheeran After Explosive Macklemore Fallout

Roger Waters didn’t pull any punches while wading in on the controversy surrounding Ed Sheeran.
The Pink Floyd legend and political activist, 83, shared a ‘little message’ to the singer in a short video posted to his social media accounts on Wednesday (16 September).
He is the latest star to join the chorus of celebrities who have called out Sheeran, 35, after he shared a statement saying that his shows were not a ‘political forum’ in wake of Macklemore being booted off his tour.
Sheeran’s Loop Tour has been thrown into chaos after the musicians scheduled to open the stage for him announced they would no longer perform as they stand in solidarity with Macklemore.
Irish singer Aaron Rowe, Billie Eilish‘s brother Finneas, Sheeran’s backing band Beoga and Danish pop band Lukas Graham have each withdrawn from the tour while sharing their support for Palestine.

These announcements came in quick concession after Sheeran uploaded a post explaining why he was keeping his ‘personal views on this devastating conflict’ quiet.
‘The A Team’ singer said a string of venues informed him that Macklemore would not be welcome at scheduled gigs due to the pro-Palestine statements he had been making on stage.
“I would never let down the fans who had made plans, nor would I abandon the touring crew and the other support acts and musicians who rely on me for work and to make a living,” he wrote.
Sheeran said his supporters ‘do not expect a political forum’ when they attend his shows, while adding that he instead hopes gigs are a ‘place of safety and sanctuary, to maintain diplomacy and keep conversations open, not closed’.
His decision to keep schtum on the devastation unfolding in Palestine has not gone down well, and even children’s YouTuber Ms Rachel said he was ‘wrong to be silent’.
Hacks star and comedian Hannah Einbinder then shared a post to Instagram saying she hopes that the Grammy winner ‘gets a REALLY bad sun burn’.

On Wednesday morning, Roger Waters then chimed into the discussion surrounding Sheeran’s silence.
The legendary rocker branded the singer is a ‘little p***k’ in a fiery video shared online that begins with the words: “Ed who?”
In the short clip, the ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ lyricist began by showing his supporters portraits of his Palestinian friends, including journalist and activist Bisan Owda.
Waters said: “Hey, its just a little message for Ed Sheeran.
“There’s two kinds of people in this world, Ed. There’s people who do the right thing – that rapper Macklemore would be one of those people.
And there’s people, many of them, sadly… little f…excuse me, I nearly used the f word then. P***ks like you who do the wrong thing. Goodbye.”

Waters has used his platform to voice his support of Palestine for years, and previously said he ‘wakes up in tears’ about the horrors unfolding there every day during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored in 2024.
“I am prepared to admit that I am in tears over Gaza every morning when I wake up,” he said. “I’m only 80-years-old, I have never experienced the genocide of a whole people in front of my eyes. It’s happening every day, every day.”
The musician also revealed that he witnessed ‘hell on Earth’ when he previously visited the occupied West Bank during an interview with Tucker Carlson in July this year.
“I saw the apartheid,” he said. “I saw what was happening…they’ve created hell on Earth.”
Waters subsequently made the decision to ‘be vocal’ and vowed to ‘do anything that I could to help my Palestinian brothers and sisters to achieve equal human rights’.
Doing so has encouraged those who disagree with his views to do ‘everything that they can to destroy my career’, according to Waters, but he added: “They have failed. I fight back.”
He clarified that he has ‘nothing against Jewish people’ and ‘couldn’t care less what religion anybody is’, telling Carson: “Every word I’ve ever written is about encouraging empathy.”
