Dive into Peyton’s whirlwind as she navigates the curious world of sudden online celebrity—and yes, it’s as wild as it sounds.
A fan of the Ole Miss American football team has seen her social media following quadruple after a clip of her at the game went viral.
Peyton Blomquist had gone to watch Ole Miss playing off against the Florida Gators, with the Gators winning a comfortable 52-28 victory.
Blomquist was one of the people who featured on broadcasts of the game, where the camera panned out over the audience as they enjoyed the game, and zooming in on where Blomquist was sitting in the crowd.
The clip went viral on social media, and Blomquist was subsequently identified online after she shared a clip of the match to her own Instagram profile, posting a clip from the ESPN broadcast of the game with the caption ‘Go Gators!’.
According to her social media pages, Blomquist is a first-year student in Florida who is studying nutritional science, and seen her presence on social media explode after being picked out from the crowd at the game.
Reportedly, Blomquist had fewer than 10,000 followers on Instagram at the start of the weekend, but Yahoo Sports reported that within just one day her following had grown to more than 16,500.

And this was just the beginning as well, as she then started to make her own posts about what had happened, with her follower count continuing to climb.
By Saturday night she had gone past 30,000 followers, going up to 39,600 by Monday.
And her account has only continued to grow since then, with the student currently having passed 45,000 followers on Instagram at the time of writing.
Instagram isn’t the only place she’s seen her follower count jump either, with her TikTok now having 33,100 followers, and three videos on her account getting more than one million views, with one reaching 3.2 million views on the app.
Blomquist has only posted on her Instagram account once since her new found fame, sharing a selection of pictures of herself as well as at her sorority, and clips from the game with the caption ‘find the cut’.
She is reportedly also her high school salutatorian, and her LinkedIn page has said that she has now joined the pre-med track at the University of Florida.

Of course Blomquist is far from the only person to have found sudden viral fame after being featured on a cutaway shot at a sports game or concert, though some shots have gone viral for different reasons altogether.
One particularly infamous incident featured a couple enjoying a tender moment at a Coldplay concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts who suddenly found themselves on the concert’s jumbotron, where they quickly ducked out of view.
Their reaction prompted Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin to quip: “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy.”
It transpired that the pair were actually Andy Byron, who was the CEO of tech company Astronomer at the time, and the company’s chief people officer Kristin Cabot.
Both of them ended up losing their jobs following the incident, with Cabot subsequently saying that she became the ‘most maligned HR manager in HR history’.
