Michael Douglas Reveals the Explosive Moment He Lost Control with Julia Roberts Over His Son
Ever wondered what happens when Hollywood royalty meets an Oscar-winning firebrand at a Golden Globes afterparty—and alcohol is added to the mix? Well, buckle up, because this isn’t your average “stars behaving badly” tale. Here we have Michael Douglas, at 82, writing in his memoir about the exact moment he “crossed a line” with Julia Roberts—all in defense of his teenage son, no less. It’s part cringe, part comedy, and unmistakably human (because, honestly, who among us hasn’t wanted to awkwardly intervene at a party…just, y’know, not with A-listers and golden statues involved) . I can’t help but feel a weird cocktail of secondhand embarrassment and curiosity—will this confession mend fences or just add new chapters to Hollywood’s ever-growing book of feuds? Grab your popcorn. This one’s got everything—regret, roses, and some serious Golden Globe shade . LEARN MORE

Michael Douglas has revealed that he was ‘lucky’ to finish filming when he ‘crossed a line with the most in-demand young actress in Hollywood’.
The Oscar winner, 82, recalls in his new memoir One Helluva Ride the time Roberts was starring in 1990 horror flick Flatliners with her then-fiancé, Kiefer Sutherland.
Douglas, who was producing the movie, was at a Golden Globes party with his son Cameron, 13, as his plus-one.
“We were at the bar, and Julia had her arm around my son, kind of nuzzling him,” he penned.
“To me, in that moment, he looked stunned… but I was pretty drunk.”

The Fatal Attraction actor remembers telling Roberts: “Take your hands off my son and take that Golden Globe and stick it where the sun don’t shine.”
Roberts won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress at the 1990 ceremony for her role as Shelby Eatenton Latcherie in the 1989 comedy-drama Steel Magnolias.

Douglas’ producing partner rang him up the next day when he heard about what had happened.
He subsequently sent Roberts roses and an apology note, as well as expressing his regret to her and Sutherland in person.

“Luckily, they forgave me enough to get through that and finish the picture,” he writes. “I remained friends with Kiefer. Julia, not so much.”
