Is ‘Ted Lasso’ Gone for Good? Surprising Update Leaves Fans Guessing

Raise your hand if you’ve ever had to explain to your toddler why their favorite cartoon disappeared from the screen—now, imagine doing that for a pile of grown adults clutching “Believe” signs and AFC Richmond scarves. I get it, the end of Ted Lasso (well, let’s call it a nap for now) is basically a national day of mourning in certain circles—and with its endless optimism, puns, and biscuits, who wouldn’t miss it? So why are the show’s producers suddenly addressing fans like a room full of Kindergartners who’ve just been told naptime’s back on the schedule? Maybe it’s because deep down, we’re all desperately hoping an Emmy statuette will appear and tuck us in. Anyway, don’t panic—think of this as Ted and the gang just heading to the proverbial locker room for orange slices. You can always relive the magic, assuming you can find someone to wrestle the remote away from. Want to know why Apple execs are suddenly speaking slower than Siri on sleep mode? LEARN MORE.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA—Assuring viewers that all the characters on the Apple TV show still loved them very much, Ted Lasso producers released a statement Wednesday warning fans that the show was going “bye-bye” for a bit. “Just like all you busy boys and girls, sometimes Ted Lasso gets tired and needs to rest,” said series co-creator Bill Lawrence, who spoke in a soft and slow voice as he explained to the show’s fans that they would see all their favorite on-screen friends again very soon, but they’d have to practice their patience skills. “It’s okay to have big feelings about saying bye-bye to Ted Lasso. Remember that you can always rewatch old episodes any time you want to see all your buddies like Coach Beard and Roy again. Just make sure you ask a grown-up or someone else who knows how to use the remote control for help.” Lawrence went on to suggest that fans could always play Ted Lasso with a friend whenever they were really missing the show.
