Sin City’s Short-Lived Love Affairs: The Vegas Weddings These Celeb Couples Want You to Forget

Ever notice that the idea of “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” really only applies to bad decisions and not Elvis-themed weddings? There’s something deliciously absurd—maybe even intoxicating—about the thought of running off under neon lights, saying “I do” in front of an Elvis impersonator, and hoping the magic of Sin City glues your lives together forever . But oh, how that gamble can turn out to be less royal flush, more busted straight (especially with paparazzi in tow) .

I’ll be honest: the romantic in me swoons at these glittering, impromptu nuptials, but the cynic—well, that old rascal bets the house on chaos . Las Vegas weddings have long been the playground of free spirits, rebels, or anyone daft enough to think marriage is best done at 2 a.m., fueled by adrenaline and shimmering lights . Celebrities, with their penchant for grand gestures and headline fodder, are particularly susceptible—why not make a lifetime commitment between rounds at the craps table?

Of course, the real jackpot isn’t always love everlasting. For every whirlwind elopement in the City of Lights, there’s a tabloid headline rumbling just over the horizon . So, what happens when the “forever” promised beside a slot machine fizzles before the jackpot actually hits? Let’s take a joyride through the most legendary Vegas vows that quickly hit the skids—because in this town, not even the chapel guarantees anything .

Getting married in Las Vegas has to be one of the most iconic ways to tie the knot – blending the hedonistic devil-may-care act of rocking up and getting hitched with the freedom and romance of the American road trip.

Therefore, it’s little wonder that for many a US-celebrity committing to this free-spirited way of sharing their lives with someone has been popular in the past and remains a sensational way to surprise friends and family – without needing to necessarily invite them.

Sadly, despite the romance, not all Las Vegas weddings are destined to last. Here we round up the most notable Vegas elopements that ended in breakup, reports People.

1. Chrishell Stause and G Flip

The Selling Sunset star stunned the world this week by announcing her split after over four years with the Australian musician, with the memorable quote, ‘I’m a lover girl. I swing big. I miss.’

The pair married in a secret Las Vegas ceremony in May 2023, complete with an Elvis impersonator, which G Flip said was ‘so shotgun my family got three hours’ notice’. The couple then followed up with one in Australia for family and friends and another medieval themed one in July 2025.

Stause announced they separated on October 26 in a tearful Instagram video where she said, ‘G and I are no longer together.’

2. Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere

Having been dating for several years, the supermodel enjoyed a quick ceremony with the An Officer and a Gentleman star in December 1991. They arrived in Vegas the day after Crawford said yes to Gere, then went to the Little Chapel of the West and enjoyed pancakes afterwards to celebrate.

Crawford described the experience as ‘surreal’ in her 2015 memoir, Becoming. She said, “I never quite felt that I was really married,” and recounted how she heard the news of their wedding while in a car wash the next day.

Citing the reason for the couple ending their marriage in 1995, Crawford later said, “We didn’t spend enough time together.”

They remained together for eleven years, and welcomed three daughters, but split up in June 1998.
