A missing point in their investigation involves a possible confession at the church. Investigators suspected he offered a final confession to a priest before poisoning himself at a pew, but the priest did not offer a statement.
“We have heard various things that may have been said or done in the church that day, and some are interesting,” Cooper said. “But in the end, we cannot independently verify what was or wasn’t said in the confessional on the day Betkouski died.”
However, Ada County Sheriff Matt Clifford couldn’t determine definitively if Betkouski was the culprit, as the Tylenol murders were outside of their jurisdiction in Boise.
“We sent all our information to the Chicago area. It’s really not our job to name him as a suspect,” he told the press. “What we are looking for is … Do you have any information?”
