Could The Simpsons Have Foreseen Donald Trump’s $175 Billion Golden Dome Announcement?
If you’re a politician stuck on your next big power play, perhaps it’s time to binge some episodes of The Simpsons—because once again, Matt Groening’s iconic show seems to have a crystal ball tucked behind its cartoon antics. Now, here’s a wild thought: could Donald Trump be sliding secret scenes from The Simpsons under the presidential door, using their plot twists as a guidebook? It’s a question that begs asking when you realize that Trump’s political moves echo episodes aired decades ago—like his presidency predicted in the 2000’s “Bart to the Future.” And if that’s not enough, his recent announcement of a $175 billion missile defense system named the “Golden Dome” has folks instantly flashing back to Springfield’s infamous glass dome from the 2007 movie. Are we witnessing a playful nod, an eerie coincidence, or Trump’s own version of “d’oh!” moments scripted by a cartoon? Whatever the case, The Simpsons may just keep on proving they’re the real MVPs of political prophecy … or at least, the ultimate source of unintended inspiration. LEARN MORE.
If any politicians are struggling for a power move, they might want to stick an episode of The Simpsons on for some inspiration.
The animated sitcom has seemingly perfectly predicted the future once again – but some people are also wondering whether Donald Trump is simply using the show’s plot lines as a reference guide during his presidency.
That’s because there appears to be a strong correlation between some of the President’s political manoeuvres and the contents of episodes of The Simpsons, which aired years prior.
For starts, Trump taking office featured in the season 11 episode ‘Bart to the Future’, which aired all the way back in 2000 – and remind me, who is currently living in the White House?
Executive producer David Mirkin previously described this as ‘one of the funniest predictions’ the show has ever eerily got right…however, he might be about to reshuffle the order of The Simpsons’ greatest forecasts now.

Trump has just made a huge announcement about a ‘cutting-edge’ missile defence system, which is set to cost somewhere in the realm of $175 billion (£130 billion).
He claimed that it will make the US impenetrable as it will detect and stop missiles at all four major stages of a potential attack, while boasting space-based capabilities as well as ground.
And it’s name? The Golden Dome.
For those who have watched 2007’s The Simpsons Movie, this moniker set alarm bells ringing almost immediately.
A major part of the storyline in the comedy film focuses on how Springfield is sealed from the rest of the world with a giant glass dome in a bid to contain the pollution spewing from the town.
Marge initially tries to get in the swing of dome life, as she’s seen knitting something with ‘dome sweet dome’ emblazoned on it – but mass hysteria quickly ensues as the characters become claustrophobic.
Underhanded officials later drop a time bomb inside the dome, deciding that it might be better to scrap Springfield altogether, until Homer manages to save the day.
Now, we’re in no way suggesting that Trump has any intention of following in these The Simpsons footsteps – but you’ve got to admit, it will have crossed the minds of a ton of people after Trump’s Golden Dome announcement.

A quick glance on social media will tell you as much, as a host of people pointed out that Matt Groening’s TV masterpiece has – somewhat – predicted the future once again.
One person said: “Hold up, why does this feel so familiar? Oh, snap, it’s giving major The Simpsons Movie vibes with that giant dome over Springfield! Like, did The Simpsons predict this or what? Is it a coincidence or another wild The Simpsons moment?”
Another said: “Nah, politicians use The Simpsons as a playbook. Best ideas ever.”
A third chimed in: “The Simpsons had an entire movie that explained how this is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE IDEA.”

A fourth joked: “Odds are, [Trump] is actually envisioning a giant gold dome that rests over the whole country ala The Simpson’s Movie….”
While a fourth wrote: “You know @realDonaldTrump thinks the iron dome is a literal dome-shaped structure. The golden dome plan must have been hatched when Trump was watching The Simpsons Movie.”
Just to make it crystal clear in case anyone is feeling a bit confused, there won’t be an actual dome slotted over the United States in the middle of the night.
The name ‘Golden Dome’ is merely metaphorical and just helps us imagine how the missile defence system will work – but it is made up of a load of tech, rather than gold drenched bars in a dome shape.
