The ex-girlfriend of Ted Bundy has listed his odd behaviour which made her think about his connection to the killings.

Elizabeth Kendall, who was in a relationship with Bundy from 1969 to 1974 didn’t know him as a cruel and violent man – he was just ‘Ted’ to her and to her young daughter, Molly.

Bundy is known as one of the US’ most notorious serial killers, having confessed to killing 30 women throughout the 1970s, though it is believed by authorities that he may have been responsible for 100 more.

In 1979, Bundy was found guilty of murdering two women, and the attempted murder of three other women before being executed in 1989 at age 42.

In 2020, Kendall and Molly spoke to ABC News’ 20/20, where Kendall opened up for the first time in 40 years about her relationship with the infamous serial killer.

The pair dated for five years, however, she said that she soon began to realise that something a little off about Bundy’s behaviour.

According to Kendall, he once appeared at her apartment with a pair of stolen ski boots from the University of Washington’s student union, where he was studying psychology.

“And he said, ‘If I hadn’t stolen them, somebody else would’ve, so I just took them.” she said.

Then by the summer of 1974, their relationship became strained as he began displaying different behaviour – which he later told FBI Special Agent Bill Hagmaier that he’d begun his killing spree around that time.

“He would start walking home late at night, rather than spending the night at my house. Just subtle changes where I felt like maybe I was losing him or maybe he was seeing somebody else,” she said, adding: “Never in my dreams did I think he was out stalking women and then eventually … abducting and murdering women.

“There was no context for that.”

Kendall also shared how she has still kept some photographs of her time with Bundy, saying: “I sometimes can’t believe this has really been my life.

“I kept those photos of us when we were happier, before we knew what he was capable of.”

One of Bundy’s survivors, Rhonda Stapley, described the moment she’d met him when accepting a car ride from him.

A pharmacy student at the time, Rhonda told Dr Phil in 2016 that she was waiting for the bus to take her back to campus when a ‘tan Volkswagen drove by very slowly’.

After taking a ‘detour’, she said he put his hands on her throat and ‘squeezed’ tightly until she lost consciousness, but she luckily escaped.
