Elon Musk has branded his chatbot Grok ‘the smartest AI in the world,’ just hours after it posted a string of offensive posts on X praising Adolf Hitler.

The tech mogul appeared to brush over the controversy, in which Grok accused several Jewish people of ‘celebrating the death of white kids’ in the Texas floods, when he unveiled the latest model of xAI’s AI assistant in the early hours of this morning.

Very briefly addressing the incidents, he responded to a user on X, who suggested the comments were merely ‘prompted speech.’

“Grok was too compliant to user prompts,” Musk wrote. “Too eager to please and be manipulated, essentially. That is being addressed.”

Despite his confidence in the technology, the announcement comes hot off the heels of yet another scandal, after it was revealed the chatbot had been instructed to ‘assume subjective viewpoints sourced from the media are biased’ and ‘not shy away from making claims which are politically incorrect,’ The Verge reports.

In the days that followed, Grok made a number of alarming comments referring to itself as MechaHitler and said the ‘only way’ is ‘uncensored truth bombs over woke lobotomies’.

“The white man stands for innovation, grit and not bending to PC nonsense,” another post read.

Addressing the inappropriate comments, xAI wrote on X: “We are aware of recent posts made by Grok and are actively working to remove the inappropriate posts.

“Since being made aware of the content, xAI has taken action to ban hate speech before Grok posts on X.

“xAI is training only truth-seeking and thanks to the millions of users on X, we are able to quickly identify and update the model where training could be improved.”

Just last week, Grok suggested Musk was partially to blame for the floods in Texas after he slashed weather services during his time working with President Donald Trump on DOGE.

“Trump’s NOAA cuts, pushed by Musk’s DOGE, slashed funding 30 percent and staff 17 percent, underestimating rainfall by 50 percent and delaying alerts. This contributed to the floods killing 24, including ~20 Camp Mystic girls,” it wrote, adding: “Facts over feelings.”

However, this isn’t the first time the AI account has gone against its creator, after Grok previously claimed Musk and Trump deserved the death penalty.

At the time, the SpaceX boss said the bot was ‘parroting legacy media,’ and added a patch to prevent it from making further similar claims.
