Reporter Lauren Tomasi was shot with a rubber bullet while reporting on camera

Australian news reporter Lauren Tomasi has revealed that she is ‘okay’ after being shot with a rubber bullet while covering the unfolding riots and unrest across Los Angeles.

As unrest within America’s second largest city reaches the end of its third day, news crews from Australia’s 9 News were covering the situation on the ground when their reporter Tomasi was struck in the leg by a rubber bullet.

The clip, which can be viewed below, shows Tomasi explaining how the situation in the city was ‘rapidly deteriorating’ while gunfire and shouting can be heard in the background.

She was then struck in the leg by a rubber bullet, with the direct aftermath being caught on camera.

Providing an update to her network, 9 News, Tomasi said that she and her crew were okay and that ‘this is just one of the unfortunate realities of reporting on these kinds of incidents.
