Anyone who uses TikTok will have come across the viral Dubai chocolate that has been doing the rounds on the social media app for the last few months.
And it seems the hype is not dying down by any means. Enter supermarket giant Lidl, who is officially launching its own Dubai chocolate product in-store. The wait isn’t long, either.
Launching its product this week – dubbed the J.D Gross Dubai Style Chocolate – Lidl launched it on the app itself. Incredibly popular, it sold out of its stock for TikTok Shop.
The supermarket reports that it sold 72 bars a minute. That’s quite the rate, given that there were 6,000 in stock when it went live on the app.
But fear not if you missed out, with the J.D Gross Dubai Style Chocolate now coming to Lidl stores in person up and down the country.

Lidl’s version of the viral TikTok Dubai chocolate (Lidl)
Sold out on TikTok
In a statement, Lidl said: “TikTok’s favourite sweet treat, Dubai Chocolate, is taking the internet by storm, with Lidl’s viral version seeing SELL OUT success on TikTok Shop – with 72 bars sold per minute.
“Disappointed fans who missed out on the TikTok drop need panic no longer, as they can get their hands on Lidl’s coveted J.D Gross Dubai Style Chocolate in stores nationwide from 29 March.
“Shoppers can rejoice as the melt-in-the-mouth masterpiece will be available for JUST £3.99 – almost three times cheaper than a well-known Swiss brand alternative.”

Available in Lidl (Lidl)
How much is it without Lidl Plus?
The bar is £3.99 if you’re paying with Lidl Plus, which is a free membership app that’s easy to download. Without Lidl Plus, you’re looking at more money handed over at £4.99 per bar.
Claiming it to be the ‘first own-brand Dubai Chocolate bar to be widely available in UK supermarkets’, we’re sure the product will be popular given its performance over on TikTok Shop.
Lidl has moved to stop scalpers from buying in bulk, too, with many selling them on for a higher price.
To get around this, there is a maximum of two bars per customer. Prices are also subject to change and correct as of 25 March.

What is Dubai chocolate made from?
I think we all get the gist of Dubai chocolate by now, but what is actually inside it?
The green mixture filling the bars is a mixture of knafeh, or kunafa, which is crispy shredded filo pastry.
It is then combined with a pistachio paste to make a thick, viscous filling surrounding by milk chocolate.
First created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai in 2021, it has gone worldwide after creators on TikTok tried and tested the eye-catching and rather delicious dessert.
