The release date for GTA 6 has seemingly ‘leaked’ online via a South American retailer looking to sell the mega product once it finally hits shelves.
Will it be released in 2025 or won’t it has been the ongoing issue for anyone remotely interested in Grand Theft Auto VI, with a general time frame of the year given by Rockstar when releasing the very first trailer for the game back in December 2023.
Since then, there has been pretty much radio silence for Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.
Fans have kind of lost their minds clinging on to every little bit of hope they can find across the internet, with the craze around a suspected second trailer massive in the run up to last Christmas.
If you’ve still not seen the first trailer (where have you been?), you can take a look below:
A date has still not been officially announced for GTA 6, with the only update so far being from Take-Two to confirm that an autumn 2025 release is on the cards.
Take-Two is expected to give GTA fans an update on the game in just over a week’s time, though, with its next earnings report scheduled for 6 February.
Given how much money has been invested in the product, and how much money it is set to earn Take-Two, fans and shareholders alike will be holding their breath as the announcement happens.
Ahead of the meeting, where the good news could finally be confirmed (or not…), one retailer in Uruguay has listed GTA 6 for presale on its website.

Alongside copies of the game for the PS5, there is a supposed ‘release date’.
Posting the listing, the X Uruguay store – based in the city of Montevideo – claims we can expect GTA 6 on 17 September, 2025.
According to reports from gaming industry website 80 Level, one local spoke to the store who said they work directly with PlayStation when listing such matters as selling games and when to list them for.
“Presumably, some miscommunication between the store and the game’s developers led to the unintended early reveal of a release date that was meant to remain secret – giving us a chance to clear our calendars well in advance,” the site reports.
LADbible checked the website and GTA 6 is still listed for 17 September 2025 as of today (29 January), as seen below:

The description for the product also reads: “Grand Theft Auto 6 heads to the Leonida Estate, home of the neon-lit streets of Vice City and beyond, in the most immersive and expansive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.
“Coming September 17th.”
Rockstar and Take-Two are yet to comment on the reports and in any case, are likely to avoid doing so given their history of staying quiet until they are ready to announce.
Either way, it gives us hope that the game is finally coming this year.
No one wants that dreaded 2026 pushback.
LADbible has contacted Rockstar and Take-Two Interactive for comment.
