Jay Slater’s Mum Demands Justice After Shocking Video Emerges from One of His Last Known Contacts
What’s the deal with posting a video from the very spot where a tragedy unfolded? I mean, Jay Slater was just 19 when he tragically died in Tenerife last year after a long and heart-wrenching search that pulled in over £70,000 for his family . His death, ruled as a severe brain injury from a fall, shook everyone who knew him. Now, one of the last men to see Jay alive, Stephen “Rocky” Roccas, has stirred up fresh controversy by sharing a video from that exact location — a move Jay’s mum calls “sick” and downright baffling. So, what exactly is going on here? Why revisit such a painful place, and what message does that video send to a grieving family? Life sure throws some wild curveballs . LEARN MORE
The mum of British teen Jay Slater has slammed a ‘sick’ video which was posted recently by one of the last men to see her son alive.
Jay was just 19 when he died in Tenerife last year, with his remains found more than three weeks after a significant search for the apprentice bricklayer as he holidayed in Tenerife with his friends.
A fundraiser was launched to help with the search efforts and brought in well over £70,000 for the family but it took 29 days in total for local authorities to find the British teen’s body, with an inquest later revealing that he had died from a severe, traumatic brain injury consistent with a fall from a height.
Apart from providing clarity for the family, the inquest proved controversial in a number of ways, as two of Jay’s close friends who were travelling with him reportedly couldn’t be found by police to give evidence in court.
There was further controversy when Stephen Roccas, known as Rocky, refused to give evidence at the inquest after being served with a witness summons, despite him staying in the Airbnb where Jay was last seen alive.
And now, Roccas is facing even more backlash after sharing a video to Instagram taken at the cottage where Jay left in the early hours of the morning, before falling to his death some time later.

Having returned to Tenerife, Roccas took the nine-second clip outside the rental cottage in Masca, a rural mountainous area of the island.
One social media follower wrote: “What ya trying to prove Rocky? This is bad taste?” while another added: “This is a bit sick.”
Debbie Duncan, the grieving mother of Jay, has now publicly questioned the motives behind the video.
She said: “What is he trying to do? Rub our noses in it? Why has he even gone back there? What for? What’s he trying to prove? I don’t understand it.
“I would love to ask him some questions but I can’t as the inquest is over and it’s all done. But I really would like to know why he’s back there. I hope people start asking questions of him. The last year has been hell for us.”

At the inquest, Jay’s mum Debbie said: “He loved his family very much and was not afraid to show affection.
“He was very loved and our hearts are broken. Our lives will never be the same without Jay in it.”
“Never in a million years did we predict what was to unfold. Jay was a bundle of fun with a constant smile.”
Meanwhile, Ayub Qassim, who was also staying in the Airbnb in Tenerife, spoke out at the inquest about what happened the night of Jay’s disappearance.
