Actor Matt LeBlanc is best known for playing Joey Tribbiani on NBC hit sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004, but what about his career afterwards?

After Friends wrapped its 10th and final season, LeBlanc was the only star of the ensemble that agreed to a spin-off, titled Joey.

It saw the lovable character move to Los Angeles from New York, after all of his friends began their new lives, pursuing his acting career.

The sitcom ran for two seasons before being cancelled, and many don’t know what LeBlanc did after this.

While many may know him for his time in sitcom Episodes or as host of Top Gear in the 2010s, there’s a sizeable gap from his time as Joey to his resurgence over the last 10 to 15 years.

In a TikTok that has gone viral recently, his hiatus was finally explained, through clips of LeBlanc on talk shows revealing what his thinking was.

The 57-year-old actor was first clipped on Scandinavian TV show Skavlan, explaining: “My plan was, it was 10 years of Friends, and then I did two years of Joey, and then I said, ‘Right, I’m gonna take a year off, I wanna take a year off and just relax.’

“I had such a good time, I said, ‘I’m gonna take another one,’ right? And then that one was even better. So I said, ‘Maybe one more!’ And then it turned into five or six years,” he admitted while giggling to himself.

The American actor then revealed that his ‘favourite thing in the world to do’ is simply ‘nothing’.

I’m sure many of us can relate.

It’s easier said than done for the star though, who is estimated to still earn £16 million per year from Friends.

He went on: “It’s so easy.

“There’s no rules! ‘What are you gonna do today?’ I’ll tell you — nothing. Pretty simple.”

Another clip was part of the TikTok, this time with LeBlanc appearing on Conan, telling the SNL alumni host: “I should be a professional nothing. Because I think I would like to do not a f***ing thing. That’s what I would like to do. Just nothing. Nothing. Zero.”

Conan said he had to get something done, though the actor disagreed, clarifying that while he may wake up early some days, ‘it’s just not having to go somewhere or someone else telling you what you have to do’.

Users on social media loved LeBlanc’s care-free attitude too, as one wrote: “I can relate. Matt Leblanc is my spirit animal.”

Another added: “If I had his money, I would do exactly the same,” while a third joked: “He is Joey Tribbiani in real life, but with money.”

A different user pointed out: “So refreshing seeing someone really not caring about chasing more and more fame. Just chilling with his Friends cheques rolling in.”
