A child was found walking down the track of an elevated ride at a theme park over the weekend in horrifying footage.

The video was taken at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania, USA, on Saturday (30 August), leaving guests at the park and those on social media feeling concerned.

In the footage, a boy can be seen walking alone on the track of the Capital BlueCross Monorail, a ride which gives visitors an audio tour of the amusement park.

While the track’s height hasn’t officially been released, it is thought that it’s no less than 20 feet off the ground, with the child seen walking up and down the track.

His parents reported him missing at about 5pm, before spotting him atop the ride’s track, which wasn’t in operation that day.

The viral clip showed the child looking dumbfounded at the situation, as numerous onlookers shouted instructions at the boy.

A spokesperson for the park said: “While our team was actively searching, the child entered a secured area for the Monorail.”

They added that the track was ‘closed and safeguarded by a chained closure at the entrance and barricaded turnstile at the platform’.

Park officials added that staff responded to the area straight away, as guests could be heard screaming in footage.

One of the people in the crowd could be heard yelling: “Keep walking!” while pointing to the left, as others simply told him to stop.

Confused, the boy can be seen with his hand on his head, though a man in a green hat could be seen atop the roof of a nearby structure, waiting for the boy to go to him.

His act of goodwill paid off, as he eventually jumped onto the monorail itself to pick the boy up and rescue him from the harrowing situation.

According to a statement from Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, the boy was safe and unharmed following the ordeal, before being reunited with his family about 20 minutes after being reported missing.

A good Samaritan managed to save the boy (ABC7)

“Our team members immediately responded after he was spotted on the tracks, and at approximately 5:28 p.m. the child was safely reunited with his family. He was unharmed,” Hersheypark said in a statement.

“We are grateful for the vigilance of our guests and the swift response of our team, and we remain committed to maintaining the highest levels of guest safety throughout Hersheypark.”
