Mysterious Scottish Forest Settlement Uncovered: Shocking Livestream Captures Unexpected Arrest of ‘African Tribe’
So here’s a head-scratcher for you: a self-declared African “tribe” has been setting up camp in the wilds of Scotland, specifically in the woods near Jedburgh, only to be given the boot—not once, but twice. Led by “King Atehene” Kofi Offeh, along with his “Queen Nandi” wife Jean Gasho and “handmaiden” Kaura Taylor, these three have been living their own Kingdom of Kubala in the forest, claiming ancestral rights to the land. Sounds like the plot of a quirky indie flick, right? But reality bit back when local authorities moved in to clear the area, leaving the trio to pack up and vanish once more. What’s going on when you’ve got a purported African kingdom clashing with Scottish council authorities over forest land? And does anyone really know who’s calling the shots here—or what’s truly going on behind that viral “I bought you at a price” video? A self-styled African ‘tribe’ living in a forest in Scotland have been evicted from a site they moved to after being evicted from a previous camp.
Three members of the Kingdom of Kubala were given an eviction notice after living in the woods near Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders for several weeks.
Kofi Offeh, 36, who calls himself King Atehene, is the leader of the group made up of his wife Jean Gasho, 43, aka Queen Nandi, and ‘handmaiden’ Kaura Taylor, 21, who calls herself Asnat.
An initial notice stated that they were staying on private land and they then moved over a fence to a neighbouring plot of land that was owned by the council.
Jedburgh councillor Scott Hamilton said said law enforcement went to the camp on Thursday (2 October) morning and evicted the trio.

“The site is currently being cleared by the council,” Hamilton said.
“There are still a few things at play with regard to the situation, but I think this morning has been a good result for the community, and for them as well in terms of the outcome.”
Gasho uploaded footage of the eviction on social media as the ‘tribe’ has claimed that they were staying on land stolen from their ancestors 400 years ago.
The Sun reports that both Offeh and Taylor were placed in separate vans after being removed.
Melba Whitehead, Taylor’s mum, told Sky News that her daughter was reported missing from Dallas in May 2025.
The mum from Texas alleged that the ‘cult’ groomed her daughter on social media, and flew her out to the UK.
“They utilised the fact that she was angry. To encourage her to get away. They used the fact she was penniless,” the 45-year-old said.

“They utilised the funds that they had at their disposal to send for her. They made that happen.”
A video posted online shows Offeh claiming ownership over her, saying that ‘I bought you at a price’.
Whitehead added: “I believe that Jean and Kofi are opportunistic. I believe there are leeches and vultures for my daughter.”
When Sky News asked the ‘king’ if he was operating a cult, his response was: “This is the Kingdom, brainwashing is the best thing ever to happen to man if it is coming from the right source. For everyone’s brain needs to be washed by righteousness.
“I am the King of Kubala, and all nations belong to me. Everyone you see bows before me because I am the chosen one. They are not coerced, they are called.”
