Netflix Users Stunned by Sneaky Update That Wipes Out Top Shows Without Warning
Ever feel like your Netflix watchlist is more unpredictable than your ex’s text messages? Hold onto your remote, because Netflix has just rolled out a “diabolical” update that’s left subscribers scratching their heads—and in some cases, fuming. Apparently, the world’s most-popular streamer decided bigger tiles and a glitzy new layout were the way to go. But here’s the kicker: shows and movies might just drop off the platform before you even know it. How’s anyone supposed to keep up when “Leaving Soon” tags are suddenly hiding in plain sight…or not even there at all? If you’ve ever wondered whether your binge-worthy favorites are safe—or if Netflix is quietly ghosting you—well, you’re not alone . LEARN MORE
Netflix fans have made a realisation about a ‘diabolical’ update that could see your favourite shows and movies leaving the platform before you even realise.
The platform recently updated to a brand new look and, despite research suggesting it was a positive for Netflix, fans came out the woodwork to express how much they hated it.
The most subscribed to streamer in the world made the change to its layout, with the tiles for each show or film far bigger, taking up a bigger portion of the screen.
Shortcuts to hop to different pages are at the top as well, and Netflix insisted the updates make it easier to choose.
Now though, Netflix users have noticed another issue with the platform and it all revolves around when films and shows are leaving the platform.

This happens at a regular rate, due in large part to Netflix having limited time contracts with the studios that own the series and films.
Whether they’re bringing it down to add it back up or it’s going to another streamer, Netflix will generally give you a warning with a tag saying: ‘Leaving soon’.
One Reddit user, however, has noticed that it isn’t as obvious as usual, and that your favourite show or movie may actually leave the platform without you realising.
They said: “Depending on the platform you’re watching Netflix on, the “Leaving Soon” labels may not appear on the thumbnail of the show or movie. Instead, you’ll only see the note about the movie leaving Netflix on X date after selecting the thumbnail to view more info.
“I happened to be browsing Netflix on my phone when I noticed that a movie on my list had the ‘Leaving Soon’ label. Upon using my gaming console to pull up the movie, I noticed that the label wasn’t displayed.”

One comment weighed in agreeing, saying: “I see this all the time, there’s a mix of having it on the thumbnail and only displaying it when you select the title and look at the info.
“Very inconvenient but definitely not a one-off mistake.”
It is not clear yet if this issue is one universal across all apps or simply one that has come with the new Netflix update.
For those worrying what’s leaving in the UK, Netflix has a number of shows and movies set to leave the platform.
Between Elvis, Pearl, The Imitation Game, and Notting Hill, if you’re a Netflix UK user you need to move quick to watch them – as all four are set to leave in the next month.
