Beware Netflix viewers looking for a wholesome festive viewing – it looks like one of the films you may consider actually depicts ‘unnecessary incest’.

Before you ask, obviously any type or form of incest can be deemed ‘unnecessary’, but this PG-rated film has caught a number of viewers off guard after fronting as a supposed family movie.

I mean, it’s in the title.

Released in November 2023, Family Switch stars The Office actor Ed Helms and The Invention of Lying’s Jennifer Garner, as well as Emma Myers and Brady Noon as a family that inexplicably ends up swapping bodies with each other.

A year ago, the film was the most popular film on UK Netflix, as the daughter swaps with her mother, while the son swaps with his father.

It’s a concept that has been visited before, as Garner herself has played the main role in 13 Going on 30, while Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis swapped as mum and daughter in Freaky Friday.

But these don’t really touch on the unspoken subject that some may have thought about when watching these films, but this movie doesn’t shy away from it.

A certain scene depicting inter-relation love might have you throwing your remote across the room and covering your eyes when watching Family Switch.

During said scene, daughter CC – at this point in Jennifer Garner’s body – is joined by a group of friends at her house.

One of the pals then tells the group that ‘couples need a minimum of 12 kisses a day just to sustain a relationship’.

I think you can see where this is going…

Not convinced by CC’s claims that she and her hubby smooch 14 times a day, her friends want to see it in action.

And after the peer pressure mounts, CC eventually caves, giving her brother – in Ed Helms’ body – a big old kiss on the lips.

Despite the two characters not enjoying it one bit, the scene left some fans feeling a little uneasy about the whole thing.

One commented: “The incest in Family Switch was NOT needed.”

“The random incest in Family Switch caught me so off guard,” put a second.

While someone else chimed in: “Marks a real low point body-swap comedies as it steals from all others before it without compunction. But you can thank your lucky stars they don’t go for the lowest hanging fruit: incest jokes.

“Just kidding. Those are there. I had you.”

But it’s not just the incest people aren’t getting on board with; plenty of those who sat through the movie are really wishing they hadn’t.

Reviewing the film, one person remarked: “Bro these new Christmas movies on Netflix are terrible. My mom and I started to watch Family Switch and we immediately turned it off cuz it was so bad.”
