Well, hold onto your feathers—because the Trump administration has swooped in and canceled a contract with Moderna for a human bird flu vaccine. That’s right. In a move that probably makes even pigeons suspicious, the plan for late-stage vaccine development—and our right to actually buy the thing—has been grounded. I can’t decide what’s more disturbing: getting bird flu, or the idea of having to barter with a seagull for the last remaining dose. Are vaccines really in such short supply we have to flip a coin over which species gets protection?
