Investigations into Amy Bradley, the woman who disappeared while on board a Royal Caribbean cruise ship in 1998, has taken on a second life in the last week.

This is due to the release of Netflix’s new documentary on the case, called Amy Bradley is Missing.

Unlike many true crime docs that just recount theories we already know, fans were surprised to learn major details in the doc that many were unaware of in the 27 years of media coverage since she disappeared.

One major detail in the case, however, has been hotly discussed since 2005.

Photos of a woman were found on a sex worker website seven years after her disappearance, and Amy’s family noticed the striking resemblance she had to their missing loved one – who was declared dead by the US government in 2010, despite a body never being recovered.

This was a large focus of the second episode of the documentary, and now, fans have managed to make an image comparison between photos of Amy and the woman in question, and are shocked by the results.

Amy went missing from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship she was holidaying on with her family in 1998.

In the early hours of March 24, 1998, she went missing after last being seen on her cabin’s balcony by her brother.

The documentary explores two major theories: that she fell off the boat or that she was trafficked off the boat and onto Curaçao, where the ship docked.

Her family believe that these photos are proof that Amy was trafficked and taken off the boat when it docked in Curaçao a few hours after her disappearance.

After the images were found in 2005, sent anonymously to the Bradley family, the FBI investigated them.

Erin Sheridan, an FBI agent who investigated the case, stated in the Netflix doc that a forensic analyst had concluded they believed ‘that was Amy Bradley’.

Despite this, the FBI later dropped this thread of the investigation after they were unable to track down the IP address of the website.

One simulation posted to Reddit shows, however, the similarities between the two pictures when overlaid on top of one another and it shows that their face shapes are nearly identical.

The top comment replying simply said: “That’s insane, almost an exact match.”

Another replied to that, saying: “This! I know most people think she fell overboard and get defensive if you say otherwise but goddamn if this photo doesn’t look exactly like her.

“It’s uncanny when you put the photos next to each other like this.”

Many online, however, are not convinced by the theory, despite the similarities in the photo.

In a discussion of the photos on the r/Netflix subreddit, one commenter said: “I’ve learned that people really don’t understand trafficking. I agree this is not her and also that this is not how trafficking works 99.9% of the time.”

Another simply said: “It could be her. More likely it’s not.”

Her family, meanwhile, believe that the photos are genuine and proof that she is alive.

Iva Bradley, Amy’s mother, said in the Netflix doc: “Seeing the photos that’s a terrible thing… it’s a level of panic, all I can think is ‘is that my daughter?’”

Amy Bradley is Missing is available to watch on Netflix now.
