Lucy Letby has been interviewed by police over further investigations into baby deaths in hospital, the Cheshire Constabulary has confirmed.
Letby was last year found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others, while earlier this year she was found guilty of attempting to murder a ‘very premature’ infant after a jury had previously not been able to reach a verdict.
There have also been subsequent investigations into the deaths of other babies and the possibility of Letby, who was sentenced to a whole life order in prison meaning she will never be released, being charged with further offences.
Now the Daily Mail has reported that she has been interviewed regarding more cases over the alleged murders of other babies.
It reported that Letby had been questioned by police over the unexpected deaths of infants at the Countess of Chester Hospital, and was also questioned about Liverpool Women’s Hospital where she was a student.

After Letby was convicted police launched a review of all the babies in her charge during the course of her career.
In a statement provided to the Mail, Cheshire Constabulary confirmed it had recently interviewed Letby and that further updates would follow in due course.
A spokesperson said: “We can confirm that, following agreement, Lucy Letby has recently been interviewed in prison under caution in relation to the ongoing investigation into baby deaths and non-fatal collapses at the Countess of Chester Hospital and the Liverpool Women’s Hospital.
“Further updates will follow.”
A public inquiry is ongoing into the Letby case, and recently heard that she was the ‘face’ of a fundraising drive for the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Speaking to the Thirlwall Inquiry yesterday (3 December), the Countess of Chester Hospital’s former chief financial officer Simon Holden said: “There was various promotional material and leaflets and posters, and Lucy Letby appeared on quite a few of those.
“Nurse Letby was the face of that appeal in effect.”
The appeal had been launched in 2013, and in 2016 Letby was moved out of the neonatal unit into an administrative role after colleagues voiced concerns that she deliberately harmed infants.
The inquiry heard that police were called in by the hospital in 2017 to investigate the increase number of infant deaths, and Letby was arrested in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Letby is currently behind bars in HMP Bronzefield, Surrey, and will never be released from prison.
