Holiday season is here as we welcome spring, warmer days, and brighter evenings. But for cruise ships, the season never really ends.

Sailing to the nicest spots on the planet at any time of the year, the likes of Royal Caribbean know a thing or two about sunshine and relaxation at any point in the calendar.

For many, they will travel over to Miami, Florida, in order to board one of the cruise line’s ships, with millions of passengers taken across the planet every single year. Whether its a Caribbean cruise that you’re after or the fabled nine month round the world journey, there’s an eclectic choice in the hopes of satisfying everyone and anyone interested.

If you do fancy heading on to the open seas with Royal Caribbean, you’ll need to bear in mind the following items that are banned from all of its ships. It’s not a short list, either. We counted 27 different types of items prohibited from all ships.

Guns, weapons, drugs

It probably comes as no surprise that firearms and ammunition for guns are banned. On top of both of these objects, realistic replica guns and ammunition are are banned for obvious reasons. Royal Caribbean isn’t the only cruise line to have this ban in place, with one family travelling with Carnival falling foul of it last Christmas.

On top of that, sharp objects are banned. That ranges from knives to a pair of scissors. Razors are allowed for personal grooming needs as well as scissors smaller than four inches in blade length.

And it goes without saying that illegal drugs and substances are not allowed on the ships. CBD oils and CBD products are also prohibited.

Coffee makers and other household items

Yep, it’s a no for coffee makers of any kind. Candles are also banned as well as incense.

An iron for your clothes cannot be brought on board alongside travel steamers and hot plates for cooking.

On the common theme between all of these items, Royal Caribbean says: “Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense, and any other item that may create a fire hazard.

“The only exception to this policy is curling irons and hair straighteners. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard. However ‘torch lighters’ and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore are prohibited.”

Flammable worries, technology, and self defence

You wont be able to bring flammable liquids and explosives on board a Royal Caribbean boat. Lighter fluid and fireworks are banned as a result of this.

Hookahs, otherwise known as a shisha pipe, are banned. Water hookah pipes are also prohibited.

You wont be able to bring a hoverboard on to one of the cruise ships; they’re not allowed. Neither are HAM radios and electrical extension cords, which includes power strips and surge protected strips.

From a self defence situation, gear relating to martial arts, self defence, and sports is not allowed. That includes pepper spray, night sticks / batons, and handcuffs.

Food, drink, and chemicals

Alcohol can’t be brought on board which is no surprise really given the drinks packages there are to buy. It’ll be seized when you go through security and you wont get it back.

Perishable food and meats are also banned.

Chemical items deemed dangerous, such as bleach, can’t come on. Paint is also included.
