Teenager Reveals Shocking Motive Behind Throwing Dildo on WNBA Court—You Won't Believe Why!

Ever wonder what it’s like to watch a WNBA game and suddenly witness a flying sex toy making its grand entrance? Yeah, me neither—until an 18-year-old decided to up the ante at the Phoenix Mercury game with a rather unusual “prank” straight off social media trends. With multiple cheeky projectiles causing quite the stir, including one awkwardly landing near player Sophie Cunningham and even knocking a spectator and his young niece, the arena quickly turned from basketball courtside to, well… a scene out of the unexpected. This isn’t just some wild anecdote—Kaden Lopez, the teenager in question, got arrested on the spot, revealing a bizarre motivation behind his airborne antics. Curious about the full story behind this unusual disruption in the court? LEARN MORE.

A teenager who was arrested for launching a sex toy into the court during a WBNA game has explained why he did it.

It’s not everyday you spot a flying dildo, but bizarrely, multiple were reported during Tuesday’s (August 5) Phoenix Mercury game.

One even stopped the action on court. With two minutes to go in the second quarter, a sex object soared through the air to land next to Fever’s Sophie Cunningham, before it was kicked into the stands by Kelsey Plum.

Another was thrown by an 18-year-old boy who, according to court documents, was sat in his seat before pulling the green phallic-shaped object from the front pocket of his sweater. He then threw it forward, stood up and left the area.

It hit an adult spectator and his nine-year-old niece on the row in front, according to Fox10 Phoenix.

Kaden Lopez, 18, was arrested during the game. It’s not quite clear if it was his dildo that disrupted the game and landed near Cunningham.

Court documents claim: “The adult male victim was interviewed. He stated he was watching the WNBA game with his 9-year-old niece, when something hit his back then fell to the ground next to them. He realized the object that hit him was a dildo. He desires prosecution.”

According to police, Lopez apologized for the incident and gave a pretty unusual reason for the incident.

He explained it way as a ‘stupid prank that was trending on social media‘.

Reports indicate that he’d purchased the sex toy the day before, especially for the game. Lopez was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of disorderly conduct, assault, and public display of explicit sexual material.

While formal charges have not yet been confirmed, both the WNBA and PHX Arena hope to see him prosecuted for disorderly conduct.

Ahead of the game on August 2, Cunningham tweeted in response to the previous incidents on court: “Stop throwing dildos on the court… you’re going to hurt one of us.”

Turns out, some people have taken that as a challenge. Even she recognized that she’d only gone and jinxed herself after the incident, as she quote tweeted herself, writing: “This did NOT age well.”

Over on Instagram, she also addressed her tweet last week, telling her followers that: “No way that thing actually hit me. I knew I shouldn’t have tweeted that.”

It comes as someone was arrested two week ago in Atlanta during the fourth quarter of the Dream’s game against Golden State in College Park, Georgia.

The fan was ejected from the arena, according to the WNBA, and faces a one-year ban.

Then, on Friday (August 1), a sex toy was thrown in Chicago during the third quarter of Golden State’s 73-66 win over the Sky.

An official kicked the object away, and it was subsequently picked up and discarded.
