Ivan Mishukov was born in Russia in 1992 and fled his abusive home at age four to escape his mother and her alcoholic boyfriend. Living on the streets of Moscow in the mid-1990s, he survived by begging for food and sharing it with a pack of stray dogs. The dogs protected him from the brutal Russian winter, where temperatures could drop to minus 30°C. Ivan became the pack leader and lived with them for approximately two years. In 1998, when he was six, Moscow police finally captured him by luring the dogs away with food after three failed attempts. Ivan was placed in an orphanage, then adopted by a foster mother. He relearned Russian, attended Kronstadt Naval Cadet School, and reportedly served in the Russian Army.
