Traveler Reveals Shocking TSA Encounter Over Hidden Item in Carry-On – What They Found Will Surprise You!
Ever wondered what happens if you accidentally ditch your ID at home but still haul a bag full of, well, intimate gadgets through airport security? Spoiler alert: it’s not as discreet as you might hope. One brave soul recently spilled the beans on a TSA encounter that got a little… shall we say, hands-on with her travel essentials after she lost her wallet. Forgetting ID already sets the stage for a nerve-wracking security dance, but toss in the unexpected spotlight on personal items, and you’ve got a story that’s equal parts hilarious and painfully awkward. Buckle up—this isn’t your average travel tip!
A warning has been issued to anyone who may be thinking about carrying a sex toy on a flight after a passenger shared an ’embarrassing’ story involving the Transport Security Administration (TSA).
When heading to the airport, some of the items you are likely to pick up are your passport, headphones and maybe a book to read on the flight.
And sex toys? Well, it’s not really a requirement but if that is your jam, then you need to be prepared for a somewhat awkward encounter if you make the same mistake one passenger made.
Taking to the TSA Reddit forum, one anonymous passenger wrote: “Ok this is mildly embarrassing but, I was on a trip a couple weeks ago in Boston to visit my boyfriend for the weekend. I brought several sex toys with me on this trip.
“Unfortunately while I was there, I lost my wallet with my ID. I had to go through the screening process on my way back, the phone call, and then the luggage swabbing.”
The passenger went on to say the agent was ‘taking his time’ swabbing the sex toys, which did make her wonder.
The passenger continued: “I understand he could have been totally just doing his job, but idk it seemed deliberate and invasive. Maybe this is just protocol, but it’s been nagging at me since it happened.”
In case you’re not catching on, if you forget your ID, just know that you’re going to have some of you things inspected. If you’ve packed a sex toy, as this poster found out, nothing is off limits.
Obviously, forgetting your ID when traveling within the US is never a good start to your trip. Of course, you need a passport to travel overseas, but all that is required for internal flights is just a form of acceptable identification.
So, if you arrive at the airport without ID, it doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be able to fly, but now thanks to this poster we know what it does mean.

“In the event you arrive at the airport without acceptable identification (whether lost, stolen, or otherwise), you may still be allowed to fly. By providing additional information, TSA has other ways to confirm your identity so you can reach your flight.
“If your identity cannot be verified, you will not be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint.”
The TSA’s website went on to warn that those without ID should expect additional security checks, including having their items swabbed.
“Screening protocols may vary based on technology available at the checkpoint, and intelligence-driven factors,” the TSA adds.
So, how did it end of this unlucky Reddit poster, well: “Luckily I was still able to board that day, and my boyfriend found my wallet in his car a week later.”
You’ve been warned.
