UK Eurovision Act’s Unexpected Camera Gesture After Zero Points Leaves Viewers Cracking Up—What Did They Do?
Whoever thought the United Kingdom would pull a big, fat zero at Eurovision again? Yeah, zero points. It’s the kind of score that makes you question if the public accidentally thought “Remember Monday” was a brand new TikTok dance challenge rather than an actual song. The trio—Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele—gave it their all with “What The Hell Just Happened?” which, after the results, feels a tad prophetic. Sure, the jury liked them (88 points says they can sing), but the public? Nada. It’s like showing up to a party with a killer outfit, only to realize you walked in on the wrong night. Yet, amidst the shock and stinging silence from votes, Holly-Anne’s reaction—arms thrown in the air like “What just happened, folks?”—might have been the most iconic moment of the night. Maybe it’s not always about the points but the ability to laugh when everything goes sideways. So, is it time for the UK to rethink their Eurovision strategy, or just keep riding the rollercoaster of dramatic flops and memorable responses?
Eurovision viewers were left stunned after the UK scored zero points during this year’s competition and clearly, so were the band representing.
Our nation’s run of bad luck continued after we received zero points from the public vote at the Eurovision grand final in Basel, Switzerland on Saturday night (17 May).
The UK’s Remember Monday performed their ‘What The Hell Just Happened?’ song in the final, and finished in 19th place out of 26.
Made up of Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, the trio managed to score 88 in the jury vote, but the public didn’t fancy giving them anything.
Though on the whole it seems viewers thought the band sang very well, but may have been better off choosing a different song.
That being said, the highlight from the night, from a British point of view, was Holly-Anne’s incredible reaction to scoring zero points. Take a look a below:
The 30-year-old – who shot to fame during their appearance on The Voice in 2019 – appeared to take the result on the chin.
Although, on the inside she was probably pretty gutted and decided to give a brilliant gesture by throwing her arms in the air.
Over on X, one person tweeted: “My favourite #eurovision moment so far what the hell just happened?”
“Totally gutted for them but their reaction was brilliant,” a second penned, while a third said ‘she’s iconic for that’.
Other viewers, however, thought the song-choice may have cost them.
“I think vocally they were one of the best, however, the song needed context that many couldn’t connect to,” another person thought.

“It was quite a dull staying, just wondering around a chandelier that we all were going was going to rise like in phantom. They didn’t deserve zero points from the public.”
“It’s a shame to get that public reception, but I think the score and placing overall is fair,” someone else added.
On the night, Austria were the official winners of the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 with JJ’s performance of ‘Wasted Love,’ an operatic track that transitions into a club anthem.
JJ, a classically trained countertenor, secured Austria’s third Eurovision win with a total of 436 points, after previous victories in 1965 and 2014.
Israel’s Yuval Raphael finished second with 357 points. She won the public vote but ranking lower with the jury.
She performed to a mix reaction from both the audience and viewers at home, given the ongoing tensions from the Israel and Gaza conflict.
